Sinful Sunday: Gamers are selfish?
In a lot of games you have to work together to win, but somehow you always have people on your team that think they can do things on their own and will often fail. I understand that need to do things on your own, as a lone wolf you would rather do things your own way instead of working with strangers. But the problem is that some games are actually made for people to work together, so if you bring your lone wolf shit to those games then you're in for a nasty surprise!
Being a lone wolf makes you selfish?
Not really, but you will often see people go their own way in a game and they'll screw over their team with one of their actions. For example a healer that uses his or her healing ability too early or a tank that aggravates too many people or enemy groups and lure them to his or her team, which is mostly a dick move. So where does being selfish come in play? Selfish behaviour comes in play when there is loot to be divided, just watch how some people want to take everything or at least all the most valuable stuff. Even when their character can't use it, for example a rogue that wants a mage staff, they would still want it and will take it if they get the chance. Being part of a team means working together, it doesn't mean take what you want and leave the scraps for the rest. If you can't play nice with other people then maybe you shouldn't play games with other people.
Why are some gamers selfish?
Why are people selfish when they're not playing games? Because they care about what they want and don't care about other people. But in games there can be reasons why people are selfish. For example if someone plays a lot of single player games then you can sometimes forget that there are other people in your game when you play a multiplayer game, so you might do things that you thought are ok but in fact they're not. I know that I have had moments that I didn't always realize that I'm in a multiplayer game and do my own things in the multiplayer game, which is fine up to a certain point but when others are getting screwed over by your actions then you can expect some resistance from your team. Then there are people who don't really think about their actions, they see loot and they grab the loot because it's loot and loot is something you can use and otherwise you can sell it. This can really annoy other people so be certain to ask others if they need the loot before you claim something just like that. I know that it can be lame with certain games to work together but if you don't like multiplayer games and working as teams then you should really ask yourself why you're playing a multiplayer game and why you're in a team.
