Sinful Sunday: Dealing with disappointments

In your life there will be several moments when you have to deal with disappointments. It's part of life and I guess you can't really escape that. But that doesn't mean your entire life is based on disappointments. As much as I like to go a little bit filosofical I would rather talk a bit about minor disappointments, especially the type of disappointments you would encounter when buying and playing games.

Games aren't always as good as you would like them to be?

When you play games then you have dealt with disappointments, for example games that turned out to be really bad or games that couldn't interest you more than just a couple of days. Those are some of the worst disappointments you can get when it comes to buying and playing games. It really sucks when you just bought a game and you finish the game the same day and multiplayer isn't that exciting either, that is assuming there is multiplayer in that game. That's 60 Dollars/Euros down the drain! Even if it's a bit less extreme, for example dlc that turns out to be less interesting than you would hope for or the ending is a bit different than what you expected, then you will still have to deal with disappointments.

How do you deal with disappointments?

You could do what I do, you can write about it and share your thoughts with others. I would like to add that I try to do this on a respectful way and not blindly bash into a game that developers might have worked years on, that's cruel and not something you need to do. If you're angry then it might be a better idea to vent your frustration on a punching bag instead of hating on people that made a game you didn't like. But I do think you should be honest when you talk about a game, sure I can say a game is amazing and that everyone should play it but if that isn't the truth then I would feel bad about saying that. I prefer to be honest, even if that's something not everyone would like to hear. Another good way to deal with disappointments is do something that makes you happy, perhaps another game you love to play or just stop playing that game and spend some time with your family and friends. The important thing is that you do something else, don't let it bother you too much or disappointment will turn into anger and that usually leads to trouble. You can't escape disappointments, not in life so definitely not while playing games. The best thing you can do is try to get as much information on a game as you can before you buy it, hopefully this keeps the chances on being disappointed in a game to a minimum.
