Movie Monday: Captain America: Civil War

I think a lot of people were excited about this movie, a movie with a lot of popular super heroes in it and it's not even an Avenger movie! But what does this exactly mean? What I saw in for example X-men 3 the last stand is that too many super heroes in one movie can be a bad thing. But how does this affect Captain America: Civil War?

More is better?

As I mentioned before in the third X-men movie (the last stand) that this isn't always a good thing but in Captain America: Civil War it actually is a good thing. Eventhough there are a lot of heroes it never feels like someone is left out in the cold, they all get some attention and cool moments. So I don't think there are really things to complain about when it comes to the amount of heroes. The large amount of heroes in this movie also make epic fight scenes, the one in the airport is probably the best one, even better so I think it's safe to say that for this movie more is better! It's also fun to see certain characters show up, for example Ant-man and Spiderman are some cool characters that show up and bring some humour in a movie that can sometimes be a bit serious.

Comic was better?

As you probably know this movie is based on the comic book event, which takes place in several comics with several heroes and villains playing roles. The movie doesn't take the same path, it actually has different reasons why the heroes are split up in two different groups, some are for registration and some are against registration of all the people with powers. I must admit that I never really followed the comics so that's probably why I was fine with the story in the movie, but I can understand that people that loved the comics are less happy with the movie. You should understand that to fit everything in one movie is a difficult job, so you can't always follow a book or in this case comic book. You can be inspired by certain moments or certain characters but to literally do the same thing is often not a good idea. You don't want to make a four hour movie just so you can stay true to the original story.

Captain America or Iron Man?

Ah yes, that's the question. I know that some people pick the character who they like the most or maybe because the actor who plays as that character is someone they like more. But I look actually at what they stand for and I agree more with Captain America. Why? Because I think it's not right to have everyone with power registered, that takes away some of your freedom and I think a country like the USA is a country that values freedom a lot and to take that away from people just because they have powers isn't a good thing. But Iron Man does have a point, some people are dangerous and you should keep an eye on them. Just try to find a middle ground that doesn't make them slaves to a system that isn't without flaws! I really enjoyed watching this movie and I can definitely recommend it to you if you haven't seen it yet.
