Hitting on girls online is creepy?
I was playing some Overwatch and noticed that one of the members on my team is a girl. Unlike some girls she actually used her mic and everyone could hear that she's a girl. So far no problem here. But then some guys in my team started hitting on her, first they made some compliments about her skill as a Mercy (healer) and then it quickly went to how sexy her voice sounds. Now you tell me, is that going too far or is this normal?
Online flirting is creepy?
Not really, but there should be a time and place for that and in a game is probably not the best place for that. But it would also depend what kind of game you play. For example I played a lot of Guild Wars and there would always be a good chance you would meet up with girls. This didn't automaticly mean that you would start flirting with her but sometimes it would change things. Maybe you're wondering how this would change things, well the easy answer is that some guys want to impress the girl with either skill or they just want to be nice so she would want to play games with him again. I usually didn't go for the compliments, I just talk with people and see where it goes. Sometimes you just meet friendly people and you end up talking with them, wether they're men or women it doesn't really matter. I don't think I ever went looking for someone to flirt with while playing a game. But that doesn't mean that me playing games with a girl never became more than that. Sometimes something happens and sometimes you're just playing a game. Harassing a girl doesn't work in your favour, that's something you can count on!
What's the difference between being nice and being creepy?
That would be obvious to most people but I guess some people don't always realize that they're being creepy. There's nothing wrong with giving a compliment, but to constantly harass someone does make you creepy and maybe you don't want to be but that's how it's going to look! Sure you can like someone and even if you just hear someones voice and you think that person seems nice to me, don't go in full attack mode and try to win her over. My advice is talk, which probably sounds stupid to some people but let me explain. If you're interested in playing games with someone then how do you let that person know? Are you going to throw a friend invite to that person without a message? Are you going to keep telling this person how great this person is and how amazing this person is in the game? Maybe you should just talk, not just about the game but about other things and if she is interested in talking with you then you'll find out soon enough. The thing is that you shouldn't force things. Don't expect women to like you just because you're nice to them or that they want to play games with you because you were nice to them in the game. Just be yourself and have fun, if she is having fun playing the game with you then there's a better chance that she wants to play games with you. It works better than bothering someone constantly with compliments and flirting, which can be considered as being creepy to some people and that's probably not what you want.
