Sinful Sunday: Are you cheating?
Sometimes it's obvious when someone is cheating in a game, for example people that just can't be killed or people that can shoot through walls (while other players can't do this in the game). But sometimes it's not that obvious, sometimes it might look like someone is cheating but if you watch the killcam (if that's even possible) closely you often see that they got lucky or that they really did just get that much time to aim for your head. The trick is not to get mad immediately and scream cheater.
How do you know that someone is cheating?
In games like GTA V Online it's very easy to see who is a cheater and who isn't a cheater, because if you emtpy your clip into another person or blow them up with a rocket and they're still standing there not taking any damage then it's quite obvious that they're cheating. But in games like Rainbow Six Siege, Overwatch and Battlefield 1 it's not always that easy to spot cheaters. Maybe you'll be pointing fingers at people that get a lot of kills but you should keep in mind that some people camp a lot and/or spend a lot of time in tanks. Sometimes it's rough to get killed constantly by people in a game, I know that at these moments you really feel like something is wrong but you should keep in mind that sometimes the problem isn't other people but it's you. Do you keep running into battle like a dumbass? Do you work with your team or do you keep going for solo actions? Are you constantly outnumbered by the enemy? Maybe you should switch up your tactics and stick with you team, maybe play as a different class and see if that works out better. It also helps if you try not to rush into battle but take it a bit slower. So unless you see obvious signs of someone cheating I would be careful with pointing that finger, because some people do that very quickly without any real reason for it other then being killed a couple of times by that person.
Why do people cheat?
A simple answer is that some people are sad, apparently they can't handle the fact that sometimes you lose or they have so very little confidence in their own abilities and that of their team that they would rather cheat than play fair like most people. I don't think there should be any tolerance for cheaters, they ruin games and make certain that no one is having fun in a game. I guess some people also cheat because they think they can get away with it, surprisingly the same can be said about people that cheat in a relationship. But you should keep in mind that you'll be caught, sooner or later.
Have you ever been accused of cheating?
Of course, because when you have succes in a game then there is always someone that calls you a cheater. I mean I can't have one good day without someone saying that you're a cheater. The fact that I have a lot of bad days where I don't win a lot and don't get a lot of kills are the things people don't know or see, but the moment I win a match and get a lot of kills in that match then suddenly you're the bad guy. Getting succes in competitive multiplayer doesn't happen a lot for me, so yeah I'm happy when I get a nice victory that I earned. It's a shame that there are often people that want to ruin that with their complaining, which sometimes leads to people accusing you of cheating in the game. If people could see the amount of times I get killed in certain games or the amount of games I lost then they would know better, but of course it's easier to accuse someone of cheating than accepting defeat. Just for the record, I've never cheated in a game and I would never cheat in the game because not only is that sad it also ruins the fun. Oh wow look I got so many kills and no deaths, yeah I'm great! Sure, keep telling yourself that and maybe one day you will actually believe it!
