Sinful Sunday: Jealous of a gamer girl?

Have you ever noticed how many times women get responses on requests to team up in games? I sometimes see people post requests on certain websites, they want to team up with other players. Nothing special about that you might think, but the big difference is that women that make these requests get ten times more replies than guys. Is that weird? Come to think of it, it's probably not that weird.

Why do women get more succes with gaming requests?

I can think of two reasons, oh wait that's not really nice... But seriously it's really annoying when a guy tries to find other people to play games with and maybe only one or two people reply to that, while women often have a lot more succes when they're looking for a team. It doesn't surprise me that some guys use a female gamertag (for example have miss or lady in the gamertag) to get more succes in teaming up with others, because guys apparently prefer to play with girls in games. I don't think that every guy that wants to play with a girl in a game has strong motivations, maybe some guys hope to meet a nice girl this way but I doubt that you'll have a lot of succes with that kind of motivation. But being nice often helps you a lot, wether you're a guy or a girl when you're looking for a team. What I've also noticed is that when I try to communicate with other people in my team that hardly anyone bothers to plug in a microphone and talk, but the moment they hear a girl speak then suddenly everyone awakens from their slumber and you hear almost ten guys at once say hi!

Women have it easy in the world of games?

I wouldn't say that! You see attention has a good side but unfortunately also a bad side. The bad side is that sometimes people harass women in games, they leave annoying messages and sometimes even stalk them online. It sometimes also paints a target on their back, so people will constantly kill the girl in the team and teabag the corpse because she's a girl. I'm not saying this happens all the time but you can probably understand how this is annoying and not fun. Eventhough women often get more replies on their gaming requests it doesn't mean that all the replies are friendly. Some guys just want to talk (this is the most positive thing I can think of), then there are guys that will insult women because they think they shouldn't play games and you have the type of vermin that leaves sexual messages because they're sad sacks of shit. So maybe you sometimes feel that you're jealous of women getting more replies on their gaming requests but you should realize that it's not all good and that sometimes it brings more shit than actual positive replies. But let's not forget the part how some guys give a girl a lot of hate when she beats him in a game, I'm not saying that a lot of guys are like that but I know that there are guys that can't stand losing to a girl. If there's one thing you should realize it's that when you play a game you will lose sooner or later. I have to admit that some girls like to rub it in, for example in Black Ops 3 I've seen calling cards (this shows up when you've been killed in multiplayer by that person) of people that say: you've been beaten by a girl! I laugh at that but I bet some guys make it their mission in that game to get back at her, but playing angry usually makes you fail even more.

So you shouldn't be jealous of gamer girls?

Nope! Look I understand that it sucks when nobody replies to your request to team up, but there's no need to be jealous on other people that do have succes with their requests. Just try again or try somewhere else to find people to team up with you. If nobody responds then that's too bad but it's not the end of the world. My advice is to hope for the best in multiplayer or play a single player game, sometimes it takes some time before people start responding to your message. So yeah girls will often get more attention but I wouldn't be jealous of that, because a lot of attention doesn't always mean positive attention. There's a reason why some girls hide online behind a male gamertag or don't use a microphone, they're often sick and  tired of all the negativity they get. Just stay positive and try to make the most of things, who knows you might meet some friendly people in a random match and perhaps people will sooner or later respond to your request to team up. Patience is your friend here!
