Your level doesn't mean anything in multiplayer?
After playing a weekend of Overwatch I can say at least one thing in that game, your level doesn't mean anything. I was playing with a group of random people (average level 54) and we were up against a team of people that all had stars (a star stands for a hundred levels) and one guy on their team even has two stars. So I thought we were done for, how could you win against people that have such high levels? Apparently quite easy, because we won twice in a row without too much effort.
Your level means nothing in certain games?
It seems that way, because no matter how high your level is you can still lose just as easily as someone with a low level. But what you can say about people with high levels in multiplayer is that they played a lot, I think the guy with the two stars has played more than 180 hours and he has won more than 500 matches. So that does mean something, but if you do your best and work well with your team then you can even take down some tough opponents. So level can stand for you spending a lot of time on a game, which often means experience, but it doesn't automaticly mean that you're a good player. Besides a team of 6 individual good players that can't work well together might still lose to a team of 6 average players that work well together. In certain games you unlock better weapons and characters at higher levels, for example in Black Ops 3, so it does work well in your advantage that you have a high level because it gives you acces to more things.
Low level doesn't automaticly mean bad player?
Absolutely not! Some people learn things really fast and can be a menace, they don't need to spend a lot of hours into the game to perform well. Then there are also people that play on alternate accounts and it might seem that they're a low level player but in fact they already have a high level character on another account but decide to play on another account for whatever reason. So it would be smart not to underestimate your opponent because the level of a player doesn't have to mean anything! It's smart to focus on the objective and work together as a team, if you think you can ace it with some lone wolf bullshit then you might find yourself beaten at the end of the match. I know it's easy to underestimate other players just because they have a lower level than you, but the easiest way to defeat is to underestimate your opponent. A victory must be earned, it hardly ever is given to you just like that!
