Game tip: Dragon Age Inquisition (Xbox One)

If you're a gold member on Xboxlive then you have a sweet deal this week, it's Dragon Age Inquisition (game of the year edition) for 16 Euros! That means you get all the dlc with it! If you know that each piece of story dlc is already 15 Euros a piece then it saves you a lot of money if you buy this. So even if you already have Dragon Age Inquisition but you don't have all of the dlc then you can still save yourself some money with this deal. You can always sell your hard copy and then buy the game of the year version in the deals of the week section.


Why should you be interested in Dragon Age Inquisition?


Hm...let me think. Oh wait because it was one of the best games of 2014 and it's my favourite game of 2014. It gives you the option to create your own character and go on your own adventure in a big semi open fantasy world. It's not just you fighting dragons or going to creepy place and fight the undead, no it's about building up an army to fight against a dangerous enemy that will destroy everything. On your travels you will meet other people that want to join you and you can build friendships or even a relationship with one of your companions. This leads to some interesting conversations and sometimes hilarious moments in the game. It's not as slow as Dragon Age Origins and not as fast as Dragon Age 2, it's somewhere in the middle and that seems to work out pretty good for this game. The dlc will give you new adventures during the main story and also one piece of dlc that continues after the main story. Then there's also multiplayer where you can play with other people online against tough enemies and where teamwork really helps you make progress because alone it's pretty tough!


But what if you already have Dragon Age Inquisition?


It's weird to buy the same game twice for the same console but you should realize that you're actually saving a lot of money here. Not only do you get the game but also all of the dlc, so if you never bought the dlc for this game or never bought all the dlc then you can save a lot of money! Why spend 15 Euros for one piece of story dlc when you get the game and all the dlc for 16 Euros? Then you can always sell your hard copy of the game and get some money back for that as well. I'm not an expert when it comes to doing business but it seems like a good deal to me!

Button bashing

It seems that more and more games want you to smash on the buttons of the controller, which seems like fun but knowing that this weak piece of plastic can´t handle much it´s not the smartest way to handle your controller. In the good old arcade days I could smash on buttons, ok nothing too crazy but at least those machines had a lot more resilience than these weak controllers we have now. You have to pay a small fortune for one of them and they fall apart with the slightest bit of force you use. After smashing a couple of controllers out of frustration I learned to be careful with them, but when games force you to be an agressive button basher it doesn´t really help. Button bashing is nothing new but I do seem to see it in more and more games, even games that could easily do without this abusive way of treating your controller. Sinful Sunday: Why are you so serious?

When I play a game I don't want to be serious, I just want to have fun and relax. Honestly real life is serious enough and I don't need that in games. Who cares who wins or who loses, just have fun and that already makes it great! Unfortunately there are gamers that take certain games way too serious, so serious that they literally forget to have fun which is quite frustrating to deal with. Hack and slash vs turn based games

This might not suprise you but I´ve always been a fan of some mindless slaughter in games, it´s the perfect way of blowing off some steam and relaxing. At least for me. It doesn´t take a great mind to figure out the controls and even if you just press random buttons you´ll probably make it pretty far in those games. But these type of games aren´t meant for thinking everything through, here you just go in and kill every enemy you face. But then I played Final Fantasy VII, what a game that is! From the moment I saw the opening cinematic to the point where I saw the credits I enjoyed playing that game. But it´s a timed turn based game, which means that the members of your team fight in turns and you´ll have to hurry because while you´re busy with selecting what type of attack or action you want to make with your character you´re also under attack from enemies that can disrupt your strategy.
