Youtube adventures part 16
I love making videos on youtube, I really do (otherwise I wouldn't do it), but there are moments where I take a break. It's a moment where I stop playing games or just stop making videos. Which is a good thing because if you make videos every day non stop then I think you're playing a dangerous game and it's easy to get stressed. But there are also times that you're just not in the right mood for that, maybe something has happened in your life and you don't feel like making videos for some time. I'm certain that some subcribers will understand that, those that don't understand it are dumb because if someone for one moment would realize what it takes to make videos then it's not as easy as it looks. Especially when things aren't going so well with you. So you should always have a clear line between your two lives.
Your personal life and youtube life
It probably sounds ridiculous but it's not actually, the person you are on youtube is you but that has a life on its own. Unless you're the type of youtuber that brings all your personal problems or situations into your videos, but I doubt that many people do that. Which makes sense because you should keep personal things outside your videos. For example if your girlfriend broke up with you or the other way around then I doubt you want to talk about that in a video, well maybe some people want that but you should be careful about that because you don't know who watches your videos and so you don't know what kind of reactions you get with that. Some people might be kind and give you support while others enjoy watching you suffer and want to make things worse. Yes it's fucked up but that's how it goes sometimes.
Last year I was moving from one place to the other, I took a break from youtube for a couple of months. I even too a break from this blog for some time. But that was mostly because I didn't have internet here just yet. My point is that moving can be stressful and I'm glad I took a break, because if you continue with youtube when you're unhappy, stressed or even angry then you really have to ask yourself what kind of content you're creating. Because when you're not feeling so good then the content is going to suffer under that, I don't think your subscribers will enjoy that. They might understand but they would probably say the same that it's probably better that you take a break.
I can understand that some people are afraid that their subscribers will leave the moment they stop making videos. It's possible but you shouldn't let that keep you from taking a much needed break, because your personal health and wellbeing should be more important than losing subscribers that clearly have no respect nor understanding for your situation. It's a good idea though to announce that you take a break, so people know that you're going to stop for some time. You don't have to say what's going on but I think some people will understand that when you need to take a break from youtube because things aren't going so well with you that this is nothing to be ashamed of or a good reason for some to unsubscribe.
For me it's simple, my personal life always comes first and the moment something happens in my personal life that demands my attention then I drop my youtube life. Not forever but definitely for a month or even longer if I need that. Because if I continue with making videos while I'm not feeling so good then the content will be miserable because I'm feeling miserable, so the best thing to do is to first get better or work things out if something bad happened in your life. Youtube will always be there and those that unsubscribed are people that won't be missed anyway. Besides if you worry about things like that then youtube might not be the place for you, because it can be cruel...
