Youtube adventures 15
Not every youtube channel is a succes, I'd say that the odds are against you when you start a youtube channel and you shouldn't be surprised if not a lot of people will watch your videos. Even if you put a lot of effort into your videos and have some interetsing content, sometimes people just aren't interested or your channel stands in the shadow of bigger youtube channels. That sucks put it's part of the youtube adventure, but it doesn't mean that you'll never grow or become succesful. I doubt that the big youtube channels became popular in just a week, month or maybe even a year. Sometimes it takes time and patience.
Patience is a virtue
When you start a youtube channel you should realize that people will not always be able to find your channel, so it's smart to pick a name that sticks out or at least separates you from other random youtubers. Sure you can be cool guy 123 but how does that separate you from the other 122? So before you even start your channel your should think about the name you use. Of course you could use your own name but I doubt that will work in your favour, but it's your channel and if you want to do that then by all means you do that.
I know that it's hard to be patient, I mean I'm the type of guy who can't sit still for a second in a multiplayer game and just want to hunt down other players. But when it comes to youtube you have to learn to be patient. If you expect succes quickly then you will most likely be disappointed, even if people check out one video it doesn't mean they come back for another. So it's not just patience you need but also originality and creativity.
Don't be afraid to try something new, because if you copy what already millions of other youtubers do then you won't stick out and it will be that much harder to be noticed. Oh sure you can be patient but waiting for something that will probably never happen seems a bit foolish to me. So it doesn't hurt to improve your chances. You don't have to be the first guy who makes a certain type of video, just make the video in a way that even people that know the game you play or know what you talk about still want to see it. I think it helps to put your personal stamp on it, which means commentary or your own way of editing the video.
It sucks if you wait for a long time and you still have no succes. So I'll give you some more advice, don't make the channel for your own succes but because it makes you happy. Because if you enjoy making videos and posting them then it doesn't really matter if you don't have a lot of succes, oh it still sucks if you want succes but I would never make that my priority. Enjoy the time you spend on making videos and hopefully that joy finds itself in the video and makes it more interesting to watch.
