Dark Souls 3, why even bother?
I know that a lot of people love the Dark Souls games, so it doesn't surprise me that a lot of people got Dark Souls 3 and the mental torment begins again. I wonder how many people scream, beat the controller against a wall or just want to break the game after playing this game. Honestly I just don't understand how people enjoy that, oh sure it's nice when you make progress but at what cost?!!!
Dying in a game is fun?
Well it is if you have to believe the succes of the Dark Souls games, because if you play this game then you're going to die a lot and the game will be without mercy! It's not even the boss fights that could get you killed a lot, no some random enemy can just show up and fuck up your day throwing you back several minutes (maybe even more) in the game. It because of shit like that why I don't even consider buying this game. I don't like frustration and irritation and if a game is well known for exactly that then I wouldn't want to play that. But that doesn't mean that Dark Souls 3 is a bad game, it's just not my type of game.
Why do so many people enjoy playing Dark Souls games?
I honestly don't know, but if I had to guess I'd say it's because some people like a challenge and others do it for bragging rights. Because if you can beat a tough game then it wouldn't surprise me that they expect to get respect for that, maybe some think it's worth it but I honestly don't give a flying fuck about that. But going back to the challenge reason, I think that this makes sense in a way. I mean if you really enjoy games that offer a challenge and you find standard games too easy and you naturally play on hard mode then it makes sense you get a game like Dark Souls. But how many people are like that? I can't imagine that half the amount of gamers is like that, but then again what do I know about other people that play games? Maybe I'm missing out on a fantastic experience but if that means I don't have to scream my lungs out with frustration or break several controllers because you die again at the same point then I'm ok with that.
Why should you buy Dark Souls 3?
It's not easy to recommend a game you don't like yourself but that's also why I don't write reviews. If I have to give you a reason then it would really be about you liking a challenge and I think Dark Souls 3 will give you a challenge, wether you can beat the game or not is really up to you. Don't be surprised if this game will frustrate you or make you want to punch someone or something. But just think how cool it would be if you could beat this game on your own and have that glorious completion achievement or trophy. I don't think people will be envious but it's a nice addition to your list of achievements or trophies. But you could also just team up with a friend and make the most of things, it might ruin your friendship but then again if a game can break a friendship then it wasn't much of a friendship to begin with! Dark Souls 3 isn't for everyone but if you think that you got what it takes to beat this game then give it a try, but you probably need more than one try to beat the game!
