Youtube adventures part 13
You see all kinds of videos on youtube, some videos are about gaming then there are videos about movies or comics and also people that make some helpful videos where they learn you things or help you get achievements/trophies in games. There are also videos where people just talk, these vlogs are sometimes very popular and to be totally honest I don't really understand why but I guess we all have our own type of video we like. The most important choice you'll probably have to make when you start a youtube channel is...
What kind of videos will you make?
I started with some CoD videos, these are highlights from Black Ops 2 multiplayer matches and pretty easy to upload. Several months later I got a camera and started to record the game I'm playing on my tv, I know that this isn't a pretty video but it was never my intention to go for making pretty videos. I wanted to make a first person view gaming video. So you see the video from my perspective when I play a game. Which means you also see a part of my tv and stuff around it. But once you fully focus on the middle that becomes a blur anyway.
You can imagine that not a lot of people would like that and I don't blame them. Sometimes people ask me why I don't use a capture card, it's not that I don't want to but it's more that I prefer to spend money on games at this time instead of going for a more professional way of recording. You see I make videos for fun, I don't earn money with that and I don't plan to do that either. So why try to be someone I'm not? The most important part about making videos is having fun and if I like what I do then that should be enough!
Of course it's nice when people like your videos and it sucks when they dislike your videos, but it has never stopped me from uploading another video. I can definitely recommend you to upload videos for fun and because you want to and not to please others or become rich and famous. Maybe you want to change the type of videos you make to reach a bigger audience but if you lose your interest in making videos with that process then you're doing something wrong!
It's tempting when you see that someone has succes with a video that you want to copy that person or at least use the same game or idea behind that video. But remember that just because one guy or girl makes a video of him or her drinking tea doesn't mean that people will want to see you drinking tea. I know that it sounds unfair and it probably is, but if you try to make videos with the primary intention of getting succes with them then you're probably going to find a lot of disappointment instead. Make videos that make you happy, videos that you would like to see and hopefully sooner or later others will want to see those videos as well. If not then at least you made some videos that you enjoy watching and that's definitely worth something as well.
