Virtual Reality, just a new thing or the future of gaming?

I see a lot of videos on youtube with virtual reality games, I don't know about you but this worries me a bit. Not that I really hate virtual reality but I don't want this to be the thing for games. If it's just a new gadget for the die hard fans then I don't really give a shit but if more and more games will require a VR headset then I don't know if I see myself playing games in the future. I like things how they are now, I don't want to trade my controller in for a VR headset and I don't think I'm the only one. But how do you stop the future? Eh...you go back in time?


Virtual reality is taking over?


Well it's starting to look that way. Just look at Sony with their project Morpheus, this is a VR headset or goggles if you want to call them that which allows you to play PS4 games with the virtual reality technology. I've already heard from a lot of people that they're excited about it and you know what that means, that's right that you'll see more and more of this on the market. Already a lot of VR headsets are for sale, just look on Google and you'll find a lot of VR headsets for reasonable prices. So what's keeping you from actually buying one? Probably not that much, unless you're not a fan of virtual reality and prefer to keep things as they are now. Eventhough I would support that I do realize that you can't stop the future and apparently the future is virtual reality, I'm not happy with that but maybe it just takes time to get used to that or perhaps this is just a thing for a short time and will eventually pass and things will go back to how they were. Ah wishful thinking...


Why do you hate virtual reality?


Hate is a strong word and it's not what I mean, I just prefer things as they are. I like using a controller and I don't need to get sucked into a game wearing a VR headset. I can actually do that on my own, ok it's not as strong as a VR headset but when you're really into a game then the world around you already kind of disappears and you're in the game. Maybe not everyone has that feeling but to immediately jump towards virtual reality seems a bit extreme. I'm not even talking about looking absolutely ridiculous wearing that and freaking out over things only you can see. Now I'm not saying that you look super sexy holding a controller, probably the opposite of that, but at least it's without complications. I'm not trying to burn down the virtual reality dream but I just hope that stays small and that you can still play games with a controller in the near future. Look technology is fantastic and it's nice that things keep improving but don't try to fix or improve something that isn't broken!

Button bashing

It seems that more and more games want you to smash on the buttons of the controller, which seems like fun but knowing that this weak piece of plastic can´t handle much it´s not the smartest way to handle your controller. In the good old arcade days I could smash on buttons, ok nothing too crazy but at least those machines had a lot more resilience than these weak controllers we have now. You have to pay a small fortune for one of them and they fall apart with the slightest bit of force you use. After smashing a couple of controllers out of frustration I learned to be careful with them, but when games force you to be an agressive button basher it doesn´t really help. Button bashing is nothing new but I do seem to see it in more and more games, even games that could easily do without this abusive way of treating your controller. Sinful Sunday: Why are you so serious?

When I play a game I don't want to be serious, I just want to have fun and relax. Honestly real life is serious enough and I don't need that in games. Who cares who wins or who loses, just have fun and that already makes it great! Unfortunately there are gamers that take certain games way too serious, so serious that they literally forget to have fun which is quite frustrating to deal with. These kind of players are so serious that they probably left the fun behind when they started the game. Sigh... Serious gamers are lame gamers? There is nothing wrong about being serious, but I think there is a time and a place for everything. Mortal Kombat X isn´t just another fighting game?

You´ve probably seen the announce trailer of Mortal Kombat X, then you probably also know that it shows two familiar characters fighting against eachother. At that point you´re probably still thinking that it´s just more of the same but with a better coat of paint, I understand that pessimist look and it´s not often wrong. But from what I´ve heard about Mortal Kombat X is that it´s going to be more than just a new game in the Mortal Kombat game series. What´s new? Apparently there will be more fighting styles for one character, giving everyone his or her own favourite style to use against opponents. There was something familiar in another Mortal Kombat game where they also had weapons in a fighting style, but this seems to go a bit deeper and more unique. Of course these are just words at this point, nothing has been proven just yet!
