DC Universe Online on Xbox One?
Last night I was checking the marketplace on Xboxlive and to my surprise I saw DC Universe Online, so I clicked on it and discovered that this game is free! Free? Yes free to play, ok I guess you still need to be a gold member but you don't have to pay a subscription fee to play the game. So in case you like DC super heroes and if you ever wanted to be a super hero or villain yourself then this game might be something you're looking for!
Why should you be interested in a game from 2011?
It's true the game is pretty old, compared to some of the other games available right now, but that doesn't make it a bad game. In fact it's one of those games where you can use your creativity to create something cool and then play with that cool creation in a world full of other people who also made something cool. It's up to you if you want to team up with others, but you can always play on your own if that's more your thing. You can create some unique and cool looking heroes or villains and then do some good or bad things with those powers. You also meet some interesting characters you probably know from DC comics, for example Superman and Batman. Depending who you choose as a mentor you start in Metropolis or Gotham City and you first deal with some minor problems but quickly face some serious threats and meet up with other heroes and villains. Maybe this isn't interesting for everyone but I certainly am interested. Hell I own the PC version of the game, so being able to play this game on my Xbox One is an improvement for me because I'm more comfortable playing on my console than my PC.
What's the difference between being a subscriber and not being a subscriber?
As a subscriber you get acces to more powers, so when you create your hero or villain then that hero or villain has more powers to choose from. You also get extra characters slots and acces to more dlc content. So it's not a bad idea to become a subscriber, but it's probably smart to first check out the game and see if you want to spend money on the game. It makes sense that you just settle with the free version of the game, because why would you pay a subscription fee on top of your gold membership? Well the extra stuff you get with a subscription is pretty cool, so maybe for some people it is worth it!
