The Sims 4 (first impression)
I´ve played the first three games plus all the add ons so I couldn´t let this one escape my grasp, eventhough it´s probably going to be more of the same. Hah spoken as a real pessimist! But seriously this new game is a bit of a disappointment, I´m not saying it´s a bad game but I was hoping the Sims 4 would keep a lot of the good things from the Sims 3 and add something extra. Well they´ve added some extra things but also got rid of some good things.
What´s new? Well let´s start with create a sim, this is completely new and gives you a lot of customization options with details when it comes to making a sim. It´s easy to use and detailed, especially when you want to go for a close look you´ll be able to make a sim look like almost anyone if you know what you´re doing. Unfortunately when it comes to clothing you have less options, especially when it comes to colours as this is limited to only a select few. So you might have to add some mods to fix this or hope that there will be an add on with more colours. Also when it comes to traits you´re limited, you can only select a main aspiration plus a trait that´s attached to that and then you can select three more traits. To me this feels like less, especially when you look at the few traits that are available. This will probably be more in an add on or more than one but it sucks that you get only a few from the start.
So it´s all bad? Oh no, creating a house is so much easier now. Even when you hate doing that it´s now so easy that it doesn´t take as long as it used to. Also you can easily correct yourself if you make a mistake. Thanks to these easy controls you´ll probably want to make your own house instead of buying one. The neighbourhood is a bit different, because instead of having the whole town you only get a small block. Which means you don´t travel from your house to the store just like that! The loading screens are a lot shorter, with a powerful pc, but they´re not gone. What´s worse is that you have a loading screen when you go from your house to your neighbours house, which makes leaving your house a bit less fun. Also you can´t zoom out that far anymore that you can see the whole town like you could in the Sims 3, this is a big mistake and I really don´t like that they´ve changed that!
The Sims 4 isn´t as good as the Sims 3? It´s different, which isn´t all bad but not exactly an improvement on all parts. On some parts it´s like going back to the Sims 2, at least that´s how it feels like, and I don´t like that. The Sims 4 is more practical, you´ll understand it pretty quickly. Building houses and creating sims is now a lot easier and goes into a lot of detail, which is nice, but they also left out quite a lot of custimization options in creating a sim. This sounds like whining and maybe it is, but the Sims 4 feels a bit like a disappointment. I expected more and I´ll probably get more with add ons, but it´s a shame that so many good things from the Sims 3 have been cut out. It´s still fun to play though, so don´t worry about that. I guess this game would´ve been better if the Sims 3 didn´t exist or if you went from the Sims 2 to the Sims 4. Maybe I´m a bit harsh but I don´t want to lie to you!
