Reviews don´t mean anything anymore?

I think about twenty years ago I bought game magazines to read about the latest games and to see what others thought of those games, the review wouldn´t always be professional but at least you got a pretty good idea what the game was about and if it´s a game you want to buy. But in the last couple of years I´ve noticed how a lot of reviewers are more and more just a bunch of stuck up losers that have no business reviewing games. What happened?

I guess the internet happened, more people can voice out their opinion and a lot of people do exactly that. It probably doesn´t surprise you that a lot of people are negative online, this sucks and that´s bad type of comments. But from a reviewer you expect a little bit of professionalism, because they influence people with their review and that means that they have to do their job (because that´s what it is in a lot of cases) right! That doesn´t take away that a lot of people also voice out their opinion or their own review of a game, but often they focus on the wrong things. Because when it comes to games then there is one thing that truly matters, having fun!

Often when I read a review now it´s someone who´s grumpy or has to tell his personal story what happened before he played the game. Guess what? Nobody cares! When you write a review then you should focus on if the game is fun to play and if it´s worth buying it, because this is something that is important to readers and people that are interested in a game but aren´t quite certain if they should buy it. Especially for people that don´t have a lot of money to spend you want to make the right decision when you buy a game, so reading a review that gives you good information and tells you what you want to know definitely helps.

After hearing about the bad reviews that Destiny got it just rubbed me the wrong way, how the hell can someone give Destiny a bad review? A 6 out of 10? Is that guy right in the head? It´s reviews like that which kind of prove how little reviews mean anymore, these days you should just decide for yourself what you want to buy and don´t let yourself be influenced by others. This means a bit more work on your end, in the form of checking trailers and learning as much as you can about a game before you play it, but hopefully that leads to a purchase you don´t regret. I´ve been doing this for more than a decade and this works well for me, maybe you should try it yourself and decide which games you want to buy instead of listening to some sad git who doesn´t even know what he or she is talking about!
