Which games can we expect in 2018?
Happy New Year! Did you have a good evening and night? Hopefully you kept all your fingers, otherwise gaming will become a bit more difficult, and had a good time with whatever it was you were doing. It's 2018 and this year could be a great year for gamers, I mean just look at Red Dead Redemption 2. I think a lot of gamers are looking forward to playing that game, let's just hope it won't be delayed again! There are so many fun games out there and I would love to play them all, but unfortunately you always have to make choices and perhaps that's for the best. Here are some games I'm looking forward to in 2018!
Red Dead Redemption 2.
I already mentioned this game but it's really a game I want to play. I love Red Dead Redemption and I just can't want to jump into the sequel...or should I say prequel? That's right Red Dead Redemption 2 takes place before RDR and that means we meet some new and some familiar faces. The problem with a prequel is that you know who is going to live, at least the people you recognize, but that also means that people that are new in the prequel could be expendable. So that might mean bad news for Arthur Morgan, the main protagonist in RDR 2. But let's be honest, I think that most gamers are also interested in the online multiplayer world in RDR 2. No plains but definitely trains and horses! I also saw someone dual wielding so that looks awesome as well! There is just so much to look forward to with this game, let's hope that the game can deliver!
Far Cry 5.
The moment I saw this game I knew that I would love it. The setting is perfect, instead of a jungle or in the mountains you're now in a small community in the USA. I know that this makes some people mad and see this as an attack on religion in those parts of the USA but I think that Ubisoft has always been quite respectful about religion, so I wouldn't worry too much about that. The open world, play as a male or female protagonist and open world exploration really make me happy. To do what you can do and when you want to do it. You can use stealth, you can charge in with your gun or attack from the sky with bombs. Whatever your playstyle is you will most likely be able to do it in Far Cry 5. I think this game is going to be really good and it holds a lot of promise, it will also launch in February so we only have to wait a little bit longer.
God of War (4).
This is one of those games that makes me want to buy a Playstation 4, I'm not even joking about that this game really looks that good! Once again you'll play as Kratos but this time in a Northern setting and against Norse mythology creatures and gods. This creates a whole new environment and story for the wild warrior and I must admit that I'm interested in playing it! The game looks pretty good and offers a lot of exciting moments and this just comes from the trailers and gameplay I've seen so far, so imagine what you can expect in the full game! It's the familiar recipe you know from the previous GoW games but now with an even better sauce and some spicy ingredients. I bet a lot of people are looking forward to this game and I don't blame them, this game looks awesome!
A way out.
This game snuck up on me by surprise, a fun couch co-op game that takes two people to play. You and a friend play as two criminals and you have to work together to escape prison and stay out of the hands of the police. That seems simple but if you don't work well together it will be difficult! What's great about this game is that only one person needs to buy the game and the other can just join the game, wether that's with splitscreen or online gameplay. That's really amazing that there is a new cool looking splitscreen game and another play doesn't have to buy the game as well if you want to play online with eachother? That's amazing, especially in a time when it seems like developers are trying to squeeze as much money out of players. So this game definitely gets an honorable mention from me!
Death Stranding.
Another Playstation 4 title that I'm interested in. The game looks a bit weird but I have faith in a Hideo Kojima game. Besides you get to play as Norman Reedus, ok a character that looks like him and he does the voice for that character but that seems to be pretty close to the real thing. No zombie hunting though but there are some weird invisible creatures that can kill people by making them age really fast which isn't a good way to die. And then there is that moment where he has a baby in his throat. Honestly I don't know what that all means but the game looks interesting and I'm definitely interested in find out more. It's not certain when the game will launch exactly but hopefully this year.
Of course there are a lot more games coming out but these are five that I'll keep an eye on and hopefully learn more about them this year. It won't surprise me if a lot more cool games will show up but for now I think we already have a lot of games to look forward to. Let's just hope that 2018 will be a good year for gamers and that we all have a great time playing games!
