Fortnite Battle Royale, actually fun if you give it a try
I've been quite negative about Fortnite Battle Royale and the Battle Royale game mode itself for some time. Not that I want to be a hater but I know from my own experience that I'm not a big fan of these type of game modes because it's often full of trolls, try hards and just not fun people to play a game with. But I decided to give Fortnite Battle Royale an honest chance and didn't back out after one or two matches. I stuck with it and learned from my mistakes and slowly improved and eventually even won in solo mode. So was it fun? Yeah, it was actually fun because it feels fresh and exciting which I can't say about every multiplayer game or other game in general.
Why were you so negative about the game before?
Because I played these type of games before and I know how frustrating it can be and how annoying other people can be in these type of games. I'm not saying that you're always dealing with super fun situations in Fortnite Battle Royale but the gameplay is simple and it gives honest chances to all players. Considering I got a win in my sixth game pretty much shows that even a dumb rookie like myself has a chance to win. I like games that are more about fun than about winning or showing off skills. Of course it pays off to play smart and sometimes you're just at the wrong place at the wrong time and you end up dead. But you can easily back out of the match when you're dead and queue up for the next match that starts pretty fast. This keeps the fun alive and even when things go wrong you can quickly try again. That's something that I really like about Fortnite Battle Royale and what I didn't expect. I thought you had to sit through the entire match which would be very annoying if you die early in the match. Another reason why I wasn't that optimistic about Fortnite Battle Royale is because it pretty much killed off PvE Fortnite and that already made me dislike it from the start. Put on top of that my prejudice about the game mode Battle Royale and I saw Battle Royale as something bad. I'm glad that I'm wrong and that it can be fun. I'm not a big fan but it's a nice game mode that offers something new. I think people that are new to this will love it more than people that play this for months, it's at best when everything is new. That makes things excited and more fun. But I can imagine veteran players still enjoying this game mode a lot and that it can be just as tense when you're one of four remaining players in a tiny circle. Now that is some exciting gameplay!
What makes Fortnite Battle Royale so much fun?
The easy to get into gameplay, it's not super serious and yet gives players a lot of things to play with. But also additions like the silenced pistols, only for a short time unfortunately, and building options gives players so many ways to play the game. I had matches where I was playing more agressive, racking up some kills but also drawing a lot of attention to myself and I also played matches where I tried to avoid people and went for some stealth kills if people got too close. Fortnite Battle Royale offers you a lot of ways to play the game, you're not restricted to one tactic and one weapon that dominates other weapons. Of course some weapons are better than others but you can definitely win with lower quality weapons depending how accurate your shots are, how good you are at dodging shots, if you have shields and if you got the drop on someone. But there are no guarantees, a lucky headshot can ruin everything! But even if things go wrong and you die you can quickly leave the game and queue up for another game. This way you don't have to sit there and be annoyed but quickly get back into another game and hope that things go better that time. With the battle pass you get some nice rewards as you level up and you unlock some cool emotes, outfits, experience and even V Bucks which allows you to buy things from the store without having to use real money. I think that Fortnite Battle Royale is a fun game mode that offers players a lot and it's free, so it's for everyone and even if you think you might not like it you can always try and find out. I'm glad I gave it a chance because I had a lot of fun playing it. Definitely a pleasant surprise and I'm glad I was wrong about Fortnite Battle Royale!
