YouTube adventures -82- Demonetized
I think most people that are active on YouTube would like to earn some money with their channel. We can't all be succesful but I know that there are several people that have become very succesful with their YouTube channel. YouTube was a place where you could almost say and do whatever you wanted, of course nothing too crazy but at least it wasn't some childish bullshit that if you say the word bullshit you could already get...
Demonetized!
My channel is just a hobby, I earn nothing with this nor do I have the intention to earn money with my channel. But if I did wanted to earn money with it then I know that I would be in a lot of trouble. Mostly because I'm not exactly super friendly in my videos. I will say bad words and I can be quite agressive in some videos. I mean I'm Royal Daemon, if I was such a great guy I would've called myself super duper good dude (or something like that). I would never be able to earn anything with my videos, I mean even if I had the views up then I would still have the issue of the things I say in some of my videos. I'm not saying that I'm a total douchebag in each video but there are moments that I say bad words. Which is only natural in my opinion, unfortunately YouTube thinks differently...
So imagine that you have a succesful channel, you earn some money with and everything is fine. But then one day the big bad YouTube comes knocking on your door and says that your videos are against their new rules and that your channel will be demonetized because of the things you say or do in those videos. This isn't just lame but also cuts deeply into the freedom of the creators on YouTube. If you're a grumpy person and will sometimes say a bad word you suddenly have to pretend you're super friendly and never get mad? I mean seriously? Is it expected that we have to be super nice and never ever say a bad word? Maybe some people are like that but I'm pretty certain that the majority will use a bad word every now and then. It's only natural and taking that away from people makes the videos less natural and more fabricated. They're no longer real and people can't express themselves as they truly are.
Maybe what I'm saying sounds like bullshit but honestly this is just how it starts, by making everything that only slightly hints towards something bad already forbidden. Everything will be checked and before you know it we have lametube, the place where only not funny and super polite videos are placed. Ok maybe that's too much but honestly I do worry what this means for the future of some channels. I've already seen a decrease of videos on some channels. People that just feel like they can't do their thing on YouTube and they want to move to another place, for example Twitch. Because if YouTube doesn't allow people to do their thing then people will move on to something else and I don't think that will be good for the future of YouTube. Let be people who they want to be, as long as it's of course not too crazy.
