Don't buy the Evil Within 2! (unless you're willing to take the risk)
I wanted type something positive here because I had a lot of fun playing the game yesterday and even this afternoon until the moment happened where the game was in an endless saving circle. The text that the game was saving int the top right corner didn't go away and it stayed that way. This should've already concerned me but I was trying to be optimistic and kept on playing, hoping that the game would fix this issue by itself. Oh how foolish I was to believe that could actually happen. Big surprise, it didn't go away and when I tried to manually save the game I couldn't do anything anymore from that point. The screen froze and I had to restart the game. You know probably from experience what that means while a game is saving, it fucks up your save data and that's exactly what happened. My save data is fucked and now I can't acces it anymore. So whenever I start up the game I get put in an endless loading screen. Yeah great fun...
How did this happen?
I honestly don't know. I did nothing wrong and somehow I get punished for playing the game. I manually saved it first and there was no problem, but during an autosave, which often happens when you pick up an collectible, the saving icon and text never went away. It stayed in the top right of the screen but at least I could play. But the moment I tried to manually save, I hadn't saved in two hours and in a survival horror game that can be quite risky, the game froze and now my save data is screwed up. So for playing the game I get screwed, which results in me losing all my progress and also ruining everything I thought was fun about this game. I mean what's the point of playing a game when something like this can happen? I guess I should be considered lucky that this happened in chapter 4 and not 14, that would've been a lot more frustrating. That doesn't take away that once again a new game has issues. A new game that hasn't been properly tested and once again screws over players trying to play it. At this point I really feel like I just wasted money on this game, because if this is something that is considered as normal then I honestly don't want to play games anymore. Seriously who wants to play a game and lose all your progress at any moment just like that?
What can you do about it?
You can hope that the developers make a patch and hopefully fix this, which will then allow you to continue with your game. But honestly I'm pretty certain that it means I have to erase my save data and start over. But I'm not going to do that, at least not now. I mean I could do that now and what if it happens again tomorrow or the day after tomorrow? Am I supposed to keep erasing my data and start over again? Hell no! This game should've been tested better, because a bug like this ruins the entire game in my opinion. Which is why I'm warning you about this, in case you're planning to buy the Evil Within 2. Maybe this only happens to one of every hundred, thousand or even more players. But the fact that it happened at least once is already enough reason for me to stop playing. I mean who wants to play a game that at any moment can screw up your save data and make you lose all progress just like that? Maybe I just got really unlucky but something like this is just unacceptable! This is also something I don't expect from a big company like Bethesda and a popular game like the Evil Within 2. But now you know, this type of shit can happen to anyone at any time. My advice for you, if you're planning to buy the Evil Within 2, is to wait until this issue has been fixed. You honestly don't want this save issue that I have right now. It ruins the game and absolutely makes me regret ever buying the game. Because no matter how much fun I had before, the moment the game doesn't work anymore and messes up my save data it's garbage!
Update 15-10-2017
After I kicked the game off my harddrive, installed it again and restarted my console it seems to work again. I did lose the progress I made since the save issue started, which meant I lost about two hours of progress but considering I could've lost everything I don't want to complain too much about it because it could've been much worse. I'm glad I can play the game again and that everything seems to be working but I am concerned that this might happen again. Having issues with saving your game is probably one of the worst issues you can have in the game. So far it's working but I honestly don't know if it's going to happen again or not. Let's just hope that this was just a one time situation, because if this keeps happening then that just ruins the game.
