Overwatch Junkenstein's Revenge, new version is even better?
It's been some time since I last played Overwatch but it's nice that you can jump back into the game and adjust so quickly to the controls and gameplay. Because it's almost Halloween the Halloween event has come back to Overwatch and that means that you can play Junkenstein's revenge again. But things are a bit different this time, there isn't just another boss added, the summoner (dragon skin Symmetra), but there is also another game mode called endless and this is exactly what you would expect with that name, the fun never ends!
Neverending game mode?
Ok endless ends when all four heroes die or when the door breaks but you can last for a long time if you work well together. I got up to bonus wave 9 yesterday, add the 12 waves you have to do before the bonus waves and I managed to survive for 21 waves which is pretty good if I do say so myself. Of course we played on normal so that kind of makes it a bit less impressive. But don't worry the higher difficulties have returned and you can try your luck on hard, expert or legendary difficulty. The endless game mode becomes tougher because bosses spawn more frequently and later you have to deal with multiple bosses at once. Imagine three Junkenstein's monsters being healed by two Mercy witches and then have some Reapers roam around. That gets ugly really fast if you don't dispose of those bosses as fast as you can! The first 12 waves aren't that bad, especially when you pick the right team.
More characters?
The endless game mode gives you acces to a total of eight heroes instead of just four. You get the original four (Hanzo, Soldier 76, Ana and McCree) and four other heroes for this game mode (Genji, Torbjörn, Zenyatta and Widowmaker). This can lead to some unlucky team formations, for example no healers and two snipers, but also to a solid defense that can get you really far. One of my favourite combinations is Torbjörn, Soldier 76, Zenyatta and McCree. Torbjörn can put his turret down and pretty much hold the back and be a big help in the boss fight with his ultimate. Soldier 76 is good for picking off the robots and offer additional healing. Zenyatta can heal and put discord orbs on bosses to make them much easier to beat and on the riptires to destroy them quickly. McCree is also a great character to take care of big groups or several bosses at once with his ultimate.
Unlocking new things?
Oh yeah there is new stuff in this event plus you get acces to the items from the Halloween event of last year, so it's a great way to get new things or things you wanted to get last year but didn't get. Some of the new skins that are really awesome are the Reaper vampire skin, the Symmetra dragon skin and the McCree Van Helsing skin. Unfortunately there is no guarantee to get what you want but with the loot box system not giving duplicates, unless you have so many items that it's almost unavoidable, you have a bigger chance to get something good. The new game mode is fun and it also earns you a nice amount of experience everytimes you complete it and the more bonus waves you complete the more experience you get. So if you do it well you could earn a new loot box with every four or five matches you complete in Junkenstein's revenge endless mode. I think this event is worth checking out definitely fun playing, but I must admit that I did get tired of it playing it the entire evening. So don't forget to take a break every now and then!
