I hate Monday: When someone is leeching
Don't you just hate it when you do a lot of work in the game, do your best and try to get a good result or get something done and there is this one person in the match who does absolutely nothing and yet this person gets all the rewards you get for all the things you did. I think that's enough to make most people annoyed at that point but unfortunately it doesn't end there. There are situations where people who did nothing actually get the best reward because the reward system is random and so there's a chance that the person who did nothing gets the best reward. Does that seem unfair? I think it does!
Do nothing but get all the rewards?
When you look at this this way then I'm actually surprised that there are that many leechers in games. I guess not every game is vulnerable to this kind of behaviour but unfortunately there are some games that suffer greatly under these type of players. I say players but honestly they don't do a thing, so maybe player isn't even the right word for them. In Destiny 2 I sometimes see leechers show up in a strike or in a public event. In a strike it can be very annoying because you're only there with three people and if one of the three is doing nothing then things will only get harder on the other two players. In a public event it can also be frustrating when someone joins a public event, as in they get close to the event or fire a shot on an enemy that is from the event, and then does nothing. I don't know if this is some lame attempt to troll or that there are seriously people that need to leech for something like that. It's actually quite pathetic but it's still a problem, something that can ruin the experience for some players when you have to deal with this a lot! A game that has a lot of leechers in it is Fortnite, a game where a maximum of four players have to work together to complete an objective and survive. This can be a fun experience but also a very frustrating experience if you have to deal with leechers. Last week I had two of them in a level 40 mission. A level 12 and a level 14 join my level 40 mission and they did nothing else but gather resources. They didn't leave when they were done because they wanted to also get the experience from the mission when I completed it. I really wanted to leave but the fact is that I got so much progress with my daily quests and I didn't feel like quitting and having to start over in another mission. So yeah you're pretty much condemned to these type of people in these situations. So they literally do nothing but get all the rewards just like you, the person that did all the work. That seems unfair doesn't it? Unfortunately there isn't a system in place that fixes this issue, so for now you just have to accept that there are leeches that can join your mission and do nothing to help or you can quit and play a private match.
Leeching is a real problem?
Some people don't see the problem, so what if there is someone in the team that does nothing? Well besides the fact that you have a useless prick filling in a slot in the team that could've been given to someone that does want to play and be useful in the game you have to deal with a leech that will do nothing. What's worse is that this person will get the same amount of experience and even has a chance on getting better loot than you. For example in Destiny 2 there are leechers that sometimes get a legendary or even an exotic engram which can be quite frustrating for the other players when they get nothing. I guess this is just a type of player that shows up in certain games where he or she can get away with it, because if someone can misbehave then there are some people that will misbehave. Some people just can't seem to fight the urge to be a douchebag in a game or maybe it just comes naturally to some people. My advice is to report leechers and if possible kick them from a team, honestly people like that shouldn't be rewarded for doing nothing. I know not everyone is that skilled and I wouldn't give shit to a player that isn't that good at a game but to do absolutely nothing is not an excuse! Always try to make yourself useful in one way or another, when you're part of a team then be a part of that team or go back to single player and do whatever you want there.
