Red Dead Redemption 2, what did the trailer reveal to me?
After seeing the latest trailer I got super excited about this game, I mean seriously it looks so cool and a new protagonist? I'm all for that! It's so cool that he's not some goody two shoes trying to patch things up but actually a criminal that does bad things and shows no remorse. But there is only that much you can get from a trailer and I'm certain there is so much more to learn. That doesn't mean I'm less excited about Red Dead Redemption 2!
You don't play as John Marston?
A lot of people wanted to play as John Marston in this sequel that is actually a prequel. But in this latest trailer it's revealed that you play as Arthur Morgan, the muscle and debt collector of the Van der Linde gang. Which is cool, because a new character means someone new to get to know and see how he fits in with the rest of the characters. But it's still possible that Arthur is one of multiple playable characters, I wouldn't mind that and as long as the other characters are also fun to play as then it's just more fun for the player. I do realize that some people hate the multiple playable characters in GTA V, but honestly you can pick with whom you want to play (except some missions where you had to play as a certain character) and do what you want to do. So does it really matter that much? It's possible that some of the other people you saw in the trailer are also playable characters. For example the woman that stabs a guy in the hand with her knife or maybe Dutch Van der Linde himself. It's also possible that Arthur dies or that something else happens to him and you switch to John Marston. Perhaps you play as John Marston in flashbacks. Seeing Dutch alive it's clear that this is a prequel and the Van der Linde gang is still around so it might be the time that John left the gang or something like that. Right now it's a lot of guessing but I'm happy with what I see so far!
You're the bad guy?
In Rockstar games you hardly ever play as the hero, I mean not really your typical knight in shiny armor at least. You're more likely the anti hero or someone with issues, yes Trevor I'm looking at you! It would be really cool if Arthur would finally be a bad guy, because from what I've seen so far I get the feeling that he's not really that nice. Collecting debts and threatening people isn't really the nicest thing you can do. But the game is called Red Dead Redemption so maybe you're a bad guy at first and then find someone or something that makes you want to redeem yourself. Once again I'm just guessing here, but it's definitely an interesting point of view if you would finally be the real bad guy and not just a guy trying to do the right thing by doing some bad things.
Patience is a virtue?
Ah yes, patience is what you'll need because the game will come out in Spring 2018. Which means you'll have to be a bit more patient for now. But hopefully we'll get more reveal trailers and als oa multiplayer reveal trailer because I bet a lot of people are curious how that's going to work out. I'm really excited about this game and I can't wait to play it. Red Dead Redemption 2 looks really good and as a fan of the first game the second game will most likely be even better or at least I certainly hope so!
