Overwatch Summer event, 'new' and improved?

It seems we're back at where it started with the events, the Summer event and Jeff Kaplan even promises us it's new and improved. But what is exactly new and does that mean we get Lucio ball again? Feel free to read more down below where I'll try to give you as much of the information I gathered.

Lucio ball is back?

Yep! But there's more! Lucio ball has some new rules, not something ridiculous but actually things that help make matches less frustration and hopefully more fun. Do you remember how some people would boop you away with Lucio's ability? Well they can't do that anymore and Lucio's ultimate doesn't suck the ball towards him anymore. Now Lucio's ultimate will reduce the recharge time on your boop ability, you can move faster and you can jump higher. This means less cheesy moments and hopefully some more fun and exciting gameplay. I also hope they fixed the bug that made some people spawn as other heroes, as hilarious as that might be it definitely did make it frustrating to play against because they could constantly gun you down while you could only try to dodge and score. Another new addition to Lucio ball is the ranked version of this game mode. So now you can play more competitive and actually place yourself in a rank list for Lucio ball. This should help you find people of your own skill level and you can earn a new spray if you place yourself and the top 500 players get a special spray. Which is nice for the fans and a nice diversion for others.

Old skins are available?

Yes!!! I know some people hate this but I think it's fair that they give new players a chance to unlock them. Not everyone got the game since launch and sometimes people were away on a vacation or they had exams or work to deal with. So I think it's great that people get a second chance to get the skins from the previous Summer event. What's even better is that you can buy these skins now, it wasn't possible in the first Summer event, and they're available for the standard legendary price. So instead of 3000 credits you can buy them for a thousand credits. This is great because that means you have more credits to spend and that's useful because there will also be new skins and other stuff available with this event. Jeff teases us with some clues of what those could be. He first said that the Junkrat fans would be very happy with his new legendary skin. So good news for Junkrat fans! 

Is this event worth checking out?

Considering that the loot boxes have been fixed, as in you have a bigger chance to get new items and smaller chance to get duplicates, I'd say it would be worth checking out. If you want new stuff then you have a bigger chance of getting new stuff and not constantly the same stuff. Keep in mind  that the old items are also in rotation so you might get stuff from the previous Summer event, but is that really a bad thing? Well maybe for some, but honestly good loot is good loot! The new and improved Lucio ball looks interesting, but to be honest I wasn't really good at it so I don't know if I'm going to put much time into that. But I bet some people are very excited about it. I think that the Summer event looks good right now and I'm definitely going to play it when it starts on the 8th of August, feel free to check it out!

Button bashing

It seems that more and more games want you to smash on the buttons of the controller, which seems like fun but knowing that this weak piece of plastic can´t handle much it´s not the smartest way to handle your controller. In the good old arcade days I could smash on buttons, ok nothing too crazy but at least those machines had a lot more resilience than these weak controllers we have now. You have to pay a small fortune for one of them and they fall apart with the slightest bit of force you use. After smashing a couple of controllers out of frustration I learned to be careful with them, but when games force you to be an agressive button basher it doesn´t really help. Button bashing is nothing new but I do seem to see it in more and more games, even games that could easily do without this abusive way of treating your controller. Sinful Sunday: Why are you so serious?

When I play a game I don't want to be serious, I just want to have fun and relax. Honestly real life is serious enough and I don't need that in games. Who cares who wins or who loses, just have fun and that already makes it great! Unfortunately there are gamers that take certain games way too serious, so serious that they literally forget to have fun which is quite frustrating to deal with. Mortal Kombat X isn´t just another fighting game?

You´ve probably seen the announce trailer of Mortal Kombat X, then you probably also know that it shows two familiar characters fighting against eachother. At that point you´re probably still thinking that it´s just more of the same but with a better coat of paint, I understand that pessimist look and it´s not often wrong. But from what I´ve heard about Mortal Kombat X is that it´s going to be more than just a new game in the Mortal Kombat game series. What´s new? Apparently there will be more fighting styles for one character, giving everyone his or her own favourite style to use against opponents. There was something familiar in another Mortal Kombat game where they also had weapons in a fighting style, but this seems to go a bit deeper and more unique. Of course these are just words at this point, nothing has been proven just yet!
