Movie Monday: Spider-Man Homecoming

I was really curious about this movie, but at the same time I was also a bit worried. The last Spider-Man movie I saw was the Amazing Spider-Man 2 and that movie made me depressed. So you can imagine I wasn't completely certain about Spider-Man Homecoming being a fun movie to watch. But Spider-Man Homecoming is actually a very good and funny movie, so definitely a movie you would want to watch! Peter and Tony team up? Well...yes and no. I don't think this is a spoiler but I think it's safe to say that this movie isn't really the focus on them teaming up. Tony Stark is more a mentor to Peter Parker, helping him out a bit and also cleaning up his mess when he makes mistakes. It's interesting  to see Spider-Man as the fan boy in this movie, because he really wants to be an Avenger so he tries to impress Tony constantly. This already leads to some funny moments but there's much more to this movie than just that. But you should keep in mind that this is a Spider-...

Sinful Sunday: Making excuses why you fail in a game

I think we've all done it at some point, you make up an excuse why you fail in a game. I didn't get a lot of sleep, my head hurts, my controller isn't working, there's lag or the other person is cheating. I think we've all said something like that to explain the failure in a game. I'm not proud of that but it happens and can you really blame someone? Who wants to admit that you suck at a game? Well if you get a bit older then, hopefully, it doesn't really matter that much anymore and you can be honest that you suck at certain games. It's not my fault? I think the main reason why people come up with excuses why they fail in a game is that some people don't want it to be their fault that you lose or that things went badly. Someone has to be blamed but as long as it's not me. Deep down inside you often know if you're to blame or not, if you did you best and you did nothing wrong then I can understand that you're frustrated that you lost....

The colour value system is the same in multiple games?

Have you noticed that in some games there is a pattern of colours that shows you how much it's worth? This helps you recognize how valuable the item is that you got, in case you don't want to read the stats on the item. What's really interesting that this colour pattern is pretty much the same in different games, so does that mean that developers are accepting this as the right colour pattern or is it just a coincidence? The colours, what do they mean Mason? Pardon me, that's just a little joke. But seriously what do the colours mean? Let me first start with the colours I'm talking about. White (or grey) is often common, green is uncommon, blue is rare, purple is epic and yellow (or orange) is legendary. The first game that comes to mind where I saw these colours in this order was in Destiny, which made it easy to recognize items you really want and items you don't want. What's interesting is that these colours also showed up in Overwatch, in the same or...

YouTube adventures -70- A voice but not a face for YouTube?

On YouTube you can find a lot of videos with commentary, people that talk about random things or talk about something specific. You might notice that a lot of people on YouTube have videos with commentary but often they don't show their face, not even on their profile. But there are also people that spam their face on almost every thumbnail. This does kind of make me wonder, is it possible that people can have... A voice but not a face for YouTube? I never had  the intention of putting my face on any thumbnail or recording gameplay with a face cam. I know some people are interested in that, but honestly I don't see the value in it. Especially not for myself. I would find it distracting and I don't think I have a face that is meant for camera. I'm not saying I'm ugly, it's more that I'm not that comfortable in front of a camera. I did make a small exception in my first Sunday with a sinner video, which is my introduction video, because I put a picture of ...

Offline gaming goes extinct?

Do you ever play games offline? I used to do that a lot, well to be totally honest in the good old days (NES, SNES and N64 days) this was normal. You didn't know better and games were only available offline. But when online gaming started to show up on consoles it became more and more important to make this the standard approach to gaming. Now when you play a new game you often have to be online, otherwise the game doesn't work or you won't earn any achievements. This really means the end for offline gaming to me, because if I can't play games or earn achievements then that takes away a lot of fun of gaming for me. You have to be online all the time? It seems that this is the way to play games these days. I've played games offline, I think the last one I played was Batman Arkham Knight, but this caused several problems. You don't have acces to everything and I didn't earn any achievements in the time that I played offline. I know that this isn't a bi...

Summer game tip: Fortnite

The game has only been out for several days and I see myself playing this game already every day. Even if it's just for an hour or two, it's a fun game that let's you be creative and go on a killing spree if you feel like it. There is so much to do and so much to unlock that you can keep yourself easily busy with this game for weeks if not months! So that makes this a great game to survive the Summer with. You're own kind of character? In Fortnite you have four different character classes but each character class has several sub classes, which means that when two people play as a soldier in a team they don't always have the exact same abilities. This makes it less of a problem when everyone in your team plays the same class, because as much as you might like to be original we probably all have our favourite type of class and it sucks if you somehow didn't feel like you could play as that class because everyone else picks that class as well. I started as a so...

Destiny 2 beta, are you convinced to buy this game or not?

I haven't played Destiny for about a year and a half, mostly because I was sick and tired of the repetition and the issues of not reaching the highest rank unless you can form a team of six people for a raid. Destiny 2 promises us that this will be different, but my first look at the game in the beta didn't really get me super excited. So are you convinced to buy Destiny 2 or are you going to ignore this game? What's wrong with Destiny 2? Nothing really, I mean it looks good and the controls are pretty smooth. I also like how Bungie changed some of the powers a bit. For example the striker titan now has multiple smashes with the super and the arc light hunter has now a spear to dance with in his or her super instead of a dagger. I think the warlock has a big fiery sword, I didn't play as a warlock though so I'm not a hundred percent certain how that exactly works. The graphics look pretty smooth and the gameplay is pretty good as well. So what's the problem?...

Movie Monday: The Mummy (2017)

A remake of a remake, I guess you could call this movie that but I don't think that's really important. You're probably more interested if this movie is worth watching and I must say that I'm a bit conflicted about that. Why?  Because the movie has good things and bad things, I enjoyed some parts and other parts really made me wonder why I'm watching this movie. Hopefully I can give you at least a bit of an idea what you can expect with this movie and if it's worth checking out. Tom is dead, Tom is alive? So let me start immediately with one of the weird parts in this movie. You follow Nick Morton, played by Tom Cruise, when he discovers a hidden tomb and he releases a mummy from her prison, without him realizing that at the moment. This meant that he was cursed and that he can't die, so when he crashes with a plane he somehow didn't stay dead. But it also meant that he's now connected to this mummy, her name is Ahmanet, and that this causes a lo...

Sinful Sunday: Disappointments, don't let it destroy the good things in your life!

In you life you deal with disappointments, I doubt there is anyone alive that hasn't had disappointments in his or her life. It's pretty much part of your life wether you like it or not. But it's the trick not to let it control you or influence you in such a way that you can't see a way forward. It's easy though, the moment things go wrong to just give up and no longer care what happens. But after each bad moment a good moment can happen, sometimes you do have to fight for it! It's easy to give up, it's difficult to keep going? It is actually, especially when lost hope. Let's say you studied really hard for an exam and you still get a bad grade, that's a big disappointment and one you have to deal with. You can let it control you or you shake it off and try again. Look at what went wrong, why did you get a bad grade eventhough you studied so hard for your exam? Improve what you can and of course try to get some help. Perhaps you can talk with you...

Fortnite (first impression)

I got early acces to Fortnite and immediately started playing yesterday. I was a bit nervous, I mean it's always a bit of a gamble when you pre-order a game without having played it yourself before, but I must say that the game didn't disappoint. But I have to admit that certain things are a bit lame. I'll give you the details below. Zombie killer/builder/scavenger? You pretty much fill all these roles, but mostly it's about killing the husks, they're not called zombies, and protecting the objective. The best way to protect the objective is by building a good defense and some well placed traps. This brings me to my first disappointment, the traps are limited and you can only use that many of each type. Not only does that mean that you have to place them well it can also mean that certain parts might not be that well defended and it makes it harder for you as a defender to protect the objective. Of course you can team up with others to make it easier for yourself...

YouTube adventures -69- Immature YouTuber is best YouTuber?

Do you remember when 69 was just a number? To be honest I don't even remember that, but now you only have to mention the number 69 and you can already hear some people giggle or cheer. So that kind of makes you wonder, is being immature a good thing and does that get you more views as a YouTuber? Maybe, maybe not. It's not like everyone is immature or that someone is immature the whole time, but it does raise another question... Is an immature YouTuber the best type of YouTuber? I'm not going to pretend like I'm so mature or civilized even, I say and do bad things and I'm not ashamed of that! I do censor myself every now and then, I mean mostly hear and not in the videos. The videos are often the heat of the moment and then I say or do some dumb things, but to censor that would be lame because you pretty much erase a bit of real footage and try to make it look as if you're always this good person who does or says nothing wrong. I prefer to keep it real, whic...

Telltale Games triple treat surprise!

Amazing news! We don't get one, not two but three new games from Telltale Games! We get the final season of the Walking Dead game, Batman Telltale Games series season 2 and the Wolf Among Us season 2! I'm so excited about the Wolf Among Us season 2, it's amazing news for me and I can't wait for 2018 when the game launches! The Walking Dead the final season. It launches in 2018 and you play as Clementine again, this will be the last chapter in Clementine's story so I'm really curious what will happen in this game. After season three, a new frontier, I was a bit disappointed that you didn't get to play a lot as Clementine but it didn't ruin the experience. But now in the final season we play as Clementine and you start where season three left you, you're looking for AJ. Of course you take the progress and choices you made in the previous games with you, so hopefully you're happy with your choices or you might want to hit the previous games and ...

Summer game tip: Party Hard

Not every game needs super gameplay, amazing graphics or an interesting story to be worth playing. Some games can just be fun by doing something fun, which is killing other people without getting caught in Party Hard. Ja ja I know what you're thinking, is this guy crazy? Nope, you're crazy killer that kills people at parties. Makes sense, right? Even if it doesn't it's still funny! You're a killer? Yep, you kill people and it's your job to kill everyone on screen without getting caught by the cops or bouncers. The good thing is that everyone can be killed, unfortunately some characters are a bit tougher to kill. Like a cop won't go down just like that, you need to trap them with one of many traps on the screen. Bouncers are a bit easier, you can kill them with traps or sneak up behind them and stab them in the back. The big problem with killing people on one screen is that it's easy for someone to spot you in the act of killing someone or moving a de...

The worst games in the first half of 2017 (my opinion)

Where over the half year marker and it's a good idea to look back at the first half of 2017, what kind of good games did you play and what kind of bad games did you play. Unfortunately for me there were quite some bad games for me, some I managed to dodge but others I unfortunately bought. But I also bought some good games, so in a way that evens it out a bit. But right now I want to talk about the bad games of the first half of 2017. Just keep in mind that this is my opinion, I'm not stating this as a fact! Which games did you hate the most? For Honor. Let me first start with For Honor, a game I had high hopes for and that looked really cool. I played the beta and it was fun, not super amazing but definitely fun. But the moment I got the game I realized how much was wrong about the game, just the connection issues alone are enough to make you mad. The amount of times I got disconnected during a match is enough to drive someone insane! Sometimes it would happen at the las...

Movie Monday: Sleepy Hollow

It's time for another blast from the past, Sleepy Hollow! I really like creepy stories and when one of those creepy stories finds itself turned into a movie then it's always a gamble if it's going to be good. I think that Tim Burton made a really good and also funny version of Sleepy Hollow. You have silly Ichabod Crane and then the creepy headless horseman on the other side, does that work in one movie? Actually it does! A killer without a head? That's already creepy enough, but then to imagine that this killer can't be stopped and keeps chopping off the heads of other people? Yeah definitely creepy! When Ichabod Crane, played by Johnny Depp, is asked to investigate some murders in Sleepy Hollow he just expects to find some disturbed guy killing other people, but unfortunately for him things aren't always that simple and mosters actually exist! At least in this movie. The movie doesn't try to be super scary but definitely has some jump scare moments or ...

Sinful Sunday: When a game is more frustrating than fun

I like playing games, mostly because I think it's fun to play games. Unfortunately there are games that are more frustrating than fun, which is something you don't always discover from the start. At that point you have to decide if you want to keep playing the game, for example to finish the game or to get as many achievements/trophies as you can get, or if you want to get rid of the game as fast as you can! Fun turns into frustration? Some games start really good, the opening is good and you like what you're doing. The characters are interesting and the story is also interesting, you want to keep playing to see what happens next. But then there are moments where you face some frustration, gameplay elements you don't like, for example a forced stealth part or a really tough boss you need to beat, and that ruins the entire experience for you. I've seen this happen a lot of times and every time I try to stay calm and just get it over with but every time I get so a...

Life is Strange: Before the storm, an unexpected surprise?

I have to admit that I didn't see this coming, ok the popularity of Life is Strange made me always hope for a sequel but to get a prequel is a bit unexpected. Mostly because we know what happened to Chloe in this prequel, so it kind of feels like going through something where we already know how it ends. But does that mean that this game is unwanted? I don't think so! I really like Life is Strange so I definitely want to check this game out, eventhough not everything is the same. Chloe isn't Chloe? Life is Strange: Before the storm you play as Chloe, this means no time powers and just running off your mouth in certain situations. Unfortunately this also means that if you make mistakes you can't rewind time and do it differently, so you might want to keep that in mind. But Chloe is also different, she's not exactly the punk chick with blue hair you know from Life is Strange, she's a teenager who is in pain and is acting out, this doesn't just get her in t...

YouTube adventures -68- Not everything is content?

When I first started recording I thought I could just upload some matches and I would have content, but honestly who wants to watch a moron lose or see someone lose their shit over a game? It might be interesting for some but most people wouldn't want to watch that and I don't blame them. So you have to keep in mind that... Not everything is content! There are moments when I have no content, I've run out of videos and I haven't had time to record more videos. Even if I was recording I didn't get anything good. That always makes it tempting to just go for completely random videos, you know videos where nothing really happens but you just play the game. Perhaps interesting for some people but I doubt many people would be interested to watch that. If you don't care about views and all that then you should be fine, but if you try to make your channel grow then you better have good or at least interesting content or people won't be sticking with your channel!...

Summer game tip: Shadow of Mordor

Shadow of Mordor is a game I always wanted to play but somehow I never did, usually because I wasn't certain about the game or to buy the game at the price it was at. Not that there is anything wrong with the game, Shadow of Mordor actually got a lot of good reviews and I've heard a lot of good things from people that have played the game. So I must admit that I always wanted to buy the game but somehow I never did, until yesterday when I noticed that Shadow of War is for sale on Xboxlive! So if you're an Xbox One player with a gold membership then you can get the game for six Euros! Yes I'm not kidding, a fun and interesting game for only six Euros! You're not really dead in this game? The start of the game is pretty grim, you play as Talion and your wife and son are murdered in front of you and you're also murdered by the same person, the Black Hand of Sauron, and you would think that this was the end of that story. But Talion meets a wraith, a spirit with...

Buy dlc or a new game?

When you don't have that much money you have to make choices with what you want to buy because you can't buy everything. This can be rough for some people, especially when there are multiple games you would like to buy and/or there's dlc for a game that you really want to get. Instead of making a rant of why this sucks I want to try and help you find out what would be the better choice. Hopefully it helps. Dlc is worth buying? I like to think so, especially for games that are a lot of fun. For example I bought the dlc for Fallout 4, Skyrim, Dragon Age Inquisition and Rainbow Six Siege. If a game is fun enough then it's worth spending some more money on the game. It's pretty much an investment for more fun with a game you already like. But no matter how much fun a game is sooner or later you will get tired of it, this is why dlc is so important because it can breath new life into a game and make it once more fun to play. I understand that you're not always co...

Wild West Online, this isn't Red Dead Redemption 2?

I think when people saw some early screenshots from Wild West Online they probably thought they saw a glimpse of Red Dead Redemption 2. Nope, Wild West Online is actually a game and I have to admit that it looks interesting. If it will really be that much fun remains to be seen, but so far the game definitely looks interesting enough to check it out! Be the cowboy or cowgirl you want to be? From the gameplay trailer I got the idea that you can pick your own path in the game. You don't have to be good and you don't have to be bad, you can pretty much do what you want to do which is nice. You can commit crimes, steal or even kill other people, which will get you into trouble. Commit enough crimes and you'll get a high bounty on you and there will be a hunt for you. At the same time you can also collect bounties, so if you feel like doing something good you can hunt down people that are wanted and try to kill them for a bounty. If you're more of a social type then you ...

Movie Monday: Wonder Woman

As you probably know most DC super hero movies aren't doing so well lately. I mean looking at Man of Steel, Batman vs Superman and Suicide Squad. They're not bad movies, at least in my opinion, but they somehow felt a bit lacking of something. Could Wonder Woman finally be the movie that changes everything? Well I don't know about changing everything but it's a pretty good movie! Diana does it again? I know that not everyone is a big fan of Gal Gadot playing the role of Wonder Woman but in truth I actually liked her a lot in Batman vs Superman, so I was looking forward to this movie and I have to admit that the movie didn't disappoint. It has pretty much everything you need in a movie and maybe even something extra. The amazon fights are pretty cool, I mean how they battle the Germans with their melee weapons and bows is already quite the treat but the special effects look really cool! Later you see Diana also in action how she runs over the battlefield and just...

Sinful Sunday: Being a coward helps you win games?

I'm not going to lie, when I'm new to a game I usually don't go for the heroic moments but usually more for the what keeps me alive tactics. That doesn't mean I want to camp but sometimes I notice that I do hang around in certains areas a lot longer than I normally would. I guess in the end I just want to win and have a good time, so if being a coward helps me out then who really cares? Veteran players hate noobs? People that are more familiar with a game, often you can consider them as veterans, usually don't like to play with noobs, people that are new to a game, because these new players usually play cowardly and in a way that frustrate veteran players. In team based games it's often the new player(s) that get blamed for the loss because the veteran players couldn't be reponsible for that! Except sometimes they are, people that think they're a hot shit sniper and yet they can't hit anything and people that demand that someone else plays as a h...

Xboxlive Sumer game sale, get games cheap while you still can!

If you haven't noticed the game sale on Xboxlive then allow me to remind you, these games are cheap and pretty cool so get them while you still can! Usually in Summer there is a big sale and it's really worth it to check this out because there are a lot of games and also some dlc that is for sale, so definitely something you might want to check while the prices are still in your favor! What kind of games are for sale? All kinds of games, new games but also games that are a bit older, then there are Xbox One games and also Xbox 360 games for sale. I'd say if you have the Xbox One and/or Xbox 360 then you have a good reason to check out the Summer game sale! I bought a lot of games in the sale, for example the Walking Dead Michonne mini series (less than four Euros for all three parts as a gold member) and Skyrim which is now thirty Euros for gold members instead of the full price of sixty Euros. But you can also get a lot of other fun games like Zombie army trilogy, Suns...

YouTube adventures -67- The quest for content!

It seems simple, you play a game and you record which should give you content. In theory that's how it would work, unfortunately things don't always go your way. The amount of times that things went horribly wrong the moment I started recording is too many to mention, seriously so many times I was trying to record something and things just keep going wrong. Of course you can record that but unless you want a channel full of fails I would suggest you try again and again and again and...ok you probably get the idea. The quest for content! Last week I decided to record some Pay Day 2 Crimewave edition achievement videos. I bought all the dlc for the game so I could unlock everything that I wanted or at least make an attempt to unlock certain achievements. Unfortunately things don't go my way as much as I would like, especially when I start recording. Just looking at the fastest gun in the West achievement I probably spend hours on getting that achievement and made more tha...

Telltale games are the best games?

If you like good stories, interesting characters, making decisions that have consequences in the game and you're in for an adventure then Telltale games are exactly what you're looking for! I'm not saying it's for everyone though, but I think most people that appreciate a good story and a game that isn't afraid to leave out some action to add some more amazing details and depth to the story and characters is still an amazing game! Telltale games are all the same? I've heard that before and I can see what they mean, but for that reason every first and third person shooter is also the same. Yes you have to make decisions in the Telltale games and those decisions have consequences. But that doesn't mean that every game is exactly the same. I mean just put the Walking Dead game next to Minecraft story mode, two completely different games and yet they're both games from Telltale Games. But what about the Game of Thrones game, Batman game, Guardians of the...
