State of Decay 2, new adventure or more of the same?
I really enjoy playing State of Decay, I perfected the game on my Xbox 360 and later also on my Xbox One. The fun thing about State of Decay is that every day can give you something different. Meet different survivors, find different things and it could also mean the last day for the character you're playing as. So you can imagine that I've been looking forward to learn more about State of Decay 2 and so far I must admit that I'm definitely interested!
Same deal or not?
From the trailer I noticed that several things are the same. You still pick a character and that character can die, if that happens you switch to another character in your community with whom you're friends. Some of the special type of zombies also make their return, for example I saw the exploding and juggernaut zombies in the trailer. Of course you also have to build a base, a place where you can upgrade skills and items or just keep everyone alive and happy. This is something I really like about State of Decay so I hope this will be even better in State of Decay 2. The game looks similar in several ways but I don't think it's a bad thing to keep certain things the same, why change something that is good? But they have added new things in the game, for example you can now play with your friends and fight the zombies together as a team. I also saw someone inject an infected community member with some medicine so maybe now there is a way to cure yourself or others but I bet that cure will be hard to find. This also adds a new threat level to the game, once people are infected do you cure them or risk letting them infect others? I guess you could also kick them out but that would most likely be the same as killing them. I couldn't say for certain but the game looks a lot bigger and I remember the developers talking about State of Decay being a lot bigger than the first game which is a good thing.
Why should you be excited about this game?
If you like survival games and zombie games then this is the perfect game for you. It will test your skills in scavenging, survival and planning as well. You decide what kind of buildings you build for your base and what you want to do first. Make mistakes and that could cost you! I also hope that the trading comes back and even more improved, it was a way for you to get resources you didn't have. Even if State of Decay 2 is just a bigger and better version of State of Decay then I would still be interested, just because it's so much fun to play and also the constant threat that keeps you on your toes. Keep in mind that your character could die and when he or she dies you lose him or her forever, no continue or revive for you! That makes the game so much more intense and interesting in my opinion. The game will launch in Spring 2018, so we have to be patient a bit longer but hopefully it will be worth the wait!
