Sinful Sunday: Gamer rage is real?
A lot of times when I read the comments under a YouTube video I can't help but notice that some people say that the rage in the video is fake. He or she is only doing it for likes and/or subscribers. But is that really true? Can you fake rage? Well you can fake rage but when you're really pissed off then that is something you'll recognize, because people that scream bloody murder at every set back are more drama queens than actual ragers!
Raging is easy?
If you don't hold back then it can be easy. There is often that voice in your head or that feeling inside that tells you to not lose your temper, to stay cool and not get angry. For some people this can be enough to keep them from losing their shit and then there are people that just completely ignore that voice and go mad with anger when they have a setback. When I really want to win in a multiplayer match or make progress in single player I get annoyed much easier, because there is more at stake and when you lose or when you're defeated you make no progress or you get no reward. Some people might see this as bad luck, but there are also people that get really upset. I think I get upset because I really wanted to win or make progress in a game, I don't have a lot of patience and getting stuck is the last thing I want in a game. So the moment things aren't going the way I want them to I get mad. I don't immediately jump on my mic and let the rest of the players in the game know how mad I am but I will be playing dumber because it's more difficult to focus when you're upset. It's the trick to actually keep your focus and ignore the trolls and other douchebags that try to piss you off in multiplayer. While they waste their time to piss you off you keep your focus to play the objective and win the match. But if you really don't care if you win or lose you can also just keep killing them in the game, that's also quite satisfying.
Why do you rage?
It's not like one day you wake up and decide to get really mad. It's more like you deal with a lot of frustration and irritation, this builds up inside you until you explode with anger. Some people can't handle a lot of frustrtation and get mad really fast, but for some it can take days or maybe even weeks before they crack. I can tell you that the longer it takes for you to get mad the worse it gets, so it's not a bad thing to get mad every now and then and let the anger out. Just don't be a douchebag on the microphone but just play a mindless hack and slash game and let loose your frustration on some stupid NPCs or a relaxed multiplayer game where you can just get some easy kills and relax. What also seems to work well for me is to do something constructive, I play some Minecraft and build stuff with the relaxing music in the background from the game. I know this doesn't work for everyone but you don't always solve everything with violence! In a way rage is an outlet for frustration, if you keep it in then you will only feel worse over time until the moment comes you can't contain it and you explode with anger. It's better to let this anger out every now and then and preferably in such a way that you don't actually harm anyone with your words or actions. We all get frustrated with games, it's only natural, but that doesn't mean you have to be a dick about it!
So gamer rage is real?
It wouldn't surprise that some people fake it, eventhough I don't really understand why you would fake something like that. Who would want to be known as the rage guy? Not me! But you are who you are and there is no use in hiding who you are. With that being said there is also no poit in pretending to be someone you're not. Faking rage is as dumb as pretending to be good at something while you actually suck at it. Sooner or later people will notice and call you out on it. If you play competitive multiplayer in a popular first person shooter then you'll know sooner or later how real rage can be. Eventhough it sometimes comes from a squeaker you can often hear that the rage is real, unless someone uses that as some way for attention but that would be incredibly sad. Like I mentioned before, who would want to be known as the rage guy? I do realize that for some people rage is almost a crutch, the moment things aren't going their way the get mad and seem to think that this helps. Let me tell you from experience that getting mad never helps. Other people make fun of you, you make dumb moves and your experience with the game is just getting worse and worse. It's better to take a break or play another game that isn't frustrating. If you stay in the game that makes you mad then things will only get worse. Maybe you like that but I definitely don't like that!
