Should you buy Overwatch loot boxes?

A lot of people have been upset with Blizzard and one of the main things they're so upset about are the loot boxes. People are mad that you get so many duplicates and hardly any of the new event items. Which means the chance of actually getting that new skin or (dance) emote is very small. If you just payed money for fifty loot boxes and you end up getting only two or three event items you're probably really annoyed and I don't blame you!

What's wrong with the loot boxes?

My biggest problem is that you get way too many duplicates or items that you could also get outside the event. Yesterday I earned nine loot boxes, thanks to the double xp weekend, and in only one of them was a legendary skin and of course it was a vanilla skin (a skin that was in the game since launch). Then there were three boxes with purple items but these all turned out to be duplicates and vanilla emotes. That's so disappointing, especially when you try to get those dance emotes and they just never seem to drop. I mean you could open a hundred loot boxes and probably only end up with five dance emotes. That might seem like something but considering that in each loot box there are four items then that means you get out of four hundred items only five items you really want. That's not bad, that's terrible!

What needs to change?

A better drop rate for event items or even better make it only event items that drop in event boxes. They can reduce the loot to two or three pieces in an event loot box if they have to but it sucks so much when I keep getting vanilla items when I really don't care about that during an event. Also get rid of duplicates, the credits (the in game money) you get for that is hardly worth it. Somehow you have to pay three times as much for event items but when you get a duplicate event item you still get the normal value of credits for them. That's just stupid and completely unfair! I think it would be better if you earn credits with playing matches or for opening each loot box you earn credits, this way you earn credits for playing and not constantly getting a small amount for the stupid duplicates you keep getting. If you get rid of vanilla items and duplicates then opening event loot boxes should get a lot more interesting and rewarding in my opinion. There is still a chance that you get screwed, for example you get sprays or voice lines you really don't care about, but at least it increases your chances on getting something you do want.

Should you buy loot boxes?

I know it's tempting, I have done this with each event and I was thinking about doing it this event. I really want to get as many dance emotes as I can get but because there is absolutely no guarantee for me getting dance emotes if I buy loot boxes I decided not to buy any. There is just too big of a chance that it ends in disappointment. Just looking at the last twenty loot boxes I opened I only got one dance emote and I only got one legendary event skin during this event. So imagine buying fifty loot boxes and only getting two or three dance emotes and maybe two or three legendary event skins from that. I'm not even thinking about getting duplicates, because a friend of mine actually got two legendary event skins and the second one was the same as the first one. Imagine buying fifty loot boxes, that's forty Euros thrown away! I really want to try and get as many dance emotes as I can but I refuse to pay real money for it, the chance of getting crap is just way too big and I find the loot boxes in this event the least rewarding so far. I guess the more stuff you have unlocked the more duplicates you get and the more frustrated you get. I think Blizzard needs to take a good look at their loot box system because right now it's just not worth it and I can definitely recommend you not to buy loot boxes. It's your money so you decide what you do with it but I can tell you from experience that it's just not worth it! First Blizzard needs to fix their loot box problems and maybe then it will be worth it again, until then I will just try to earn them with gaining levels but I refuse to spend more money on this game!
