Overwatch double xp weekend, Blizzard is trying to be our friend again?

A lot of people got really mad in the anniversary event, because the long awaited dance emotes are only available in the event. This alone makes a lot of people mad, but what's worse is that the loot boxes are complete and utter bullshit. The duplicates are killing anyone with a little bit of hope of trying to get something good. I don't agree with all the hate towards Blizzard but I do understand that a lot of people are frustrated and to be totally honest I'm a bit frustrated about certain things as well. The double xp weekend is a nice gesture but I doubt it will be enough to calm people down, people are really mad at Blizzard!

Why are people so mad with Blizzard?

Because once again the players get screwed over, we finally get dance emotes but we only have three weeks to get all 24 of them. That means you have to pay a total of 18.000 credits, the currency in the game you get from loot boxes and duplicates, and then there are still a lot of other expensive things like legendary skins that are worth 3000 credits a piece. The chance of getting one of these dance emotes alone isn't very big. I get excited when I see a purple glow jumping out of a loot box when I open one only to get disappointment when it turns out to be credits, a vanilla item or a duplicate dance emote. You'd think this doesn't happen a lot but then you're sadly mistaken, it happens a lot! The skins is one thing but the players want to get a chance to get all dance emotes and three weeks isn't enough. The fact that we have to pay three times as much for event items is already bullshit but that you still get the same amount of credits for it when it's a duplicate is just a big fuck you to players. It really makes you think if Blizzard really cares about the people that play their games, because the way they've been treating their customers isn't very nice to say the least.

Blizzard has every right to do what they're doing?

Absolutely! Blizzard is a business and in a business you want to make money, there is no mistake there and it makes sense. They want to sell a lot of loot boxes and it's really up to you to buy loot boxes or not. Nobody forces you to buy them and eventhough the loot box system is complete utter bullshit, mostly random luck which turns out less favourable for you the more items you already have, a lot of people still buy loot boxes with the hope of getting the items they really want or getting enough credits from the loot boxes to buy what they really want. The sad truth is that this doesn't always work out so well, people spend easily a hundred Dollars or Euros on loot boxes and still don't get what they want or have enough credits to buy what they want. I understand that people are mad about this but anyone that has opened a loot box knows that it's random and the chance of getting something good is really small. So thinking that you should get something good if you buy a lot of loot boxes is a bit foolish. It should improve your chances but there is still no guarantee that you get what you want. I also understand why Blizzard makes a lot of cool items only available during an event. This means people will play the game more, trying to earn loot boxes, and it also helps them sell loot boxes which is a great way to finance future dlc. The thing is that we get all dlc for free, but in a way a lot of people pay for it with the loot boxes. I'm grateful for the free stuff but sometimes I really wish that the loot boxes were a bit more rewarding because now it just feels like throwing away money!

Double xp weekend will make things right?

I doubt it, people won't forget about this and I still think it's a dumb move of Blizzard to make the dance emotes tied to an event. The double xp weekend should give you acces to more loot boxes because you level up faster but I doubt it will make a big difference. Even if you play non stop you will unlock a total of fifty (more or less) loot boxes and I can tell you from experience that this isn't enough to get all the items you want. The smartest move Blizzard can make is making the dance emotes available outside the event, they can keep the price on 750 credits but this is really one of the biggest things that makes people so mad. Nobody wants to wait an entire year to unlock more dance emotes. I'm pretty certain that Blizzard isn't going to do that, so I really feel bad for everyone who can't get all the dance emotes they want. It sucks and as much as you hate Blizzard for it just keep in mind that better things will happen. This is just a moment in time and who knows a month later you're happy with other things. Don't let this ruin the entire game for you. Try to enjoy the double xp weekend and hopefully you get something good. The double xp weekend is from the 8th of June to the 12th of June. Unfortunately for European players that actually means the 9th of June, because it starts for Europeans, if I'm not mistaken, after midnight at 1 AM (BST) on the 9th of June.
