Call of Duty: WW2, this is what we wanted right?
The fans demanded it and here it is, the back to basic type of CoD game. No more futuristic gear, no double jumps or special abilities and no robots or other crazy stuff. The fans can be happy, right? Right?!!! Well...the CoD 'fans' aren't an easy crowd to please, especially when a bit chunk of these 'fans' are kids that don't know what they really want. But I think it's safe to say that the majority of the CoD fans are happy with CoD: WW2. But what does this actually mean? Well let's find out!
War never changes?
In the Fallout games it doesn't but in CoD things change a lot. We went from basic first person shooter to futuristic shooter and now back to classic first person shooter. That means no more double jumps or other crap like that, which means you can expect once more a lot of people showing up with their camping and drop shot bullshit. Oh well it's not like this didn't happen in the futuristic CoD games. But considering how much the fans wanted this change I wonder how long this will go on. I mean things change a lot over the years, now that the games have a three year cycle for development it's not always easy to give the people what they want right now. Even if Infinity Ward would work hard now on a classic first person shooter there's a chance that two years from now, when their CoD game would be released, people want futuristic shooters again. I guess that's the problem with certain games, the fans aren't easy to please and even if you would try to give them what they want they might change their mind by the time you can deliver what you made for them. This is why I prefer that developers focus more on making a game and not putting too much thought into what people want right now. Things change and one moment this is popular and another moment something else is popular. But at the same time it's nice when developers listen to the fans.
War is hell?
Have you seen the movie Saving Private Ryan? Then you know how bad things can get, but that was just a fraction of one of the worst wars in history. From the looks of it you start on the beaches of Normandy during D-Day on the 6th of June 1944. Expect to see a lot of terrible things and some really brave moments where soldiers storm the beach and get absolutely destroyed by the German gunners but even though things were looking bad the Allies pushed through and secured the beach. But that came at the cost of so many good soldiers, which once again proves that war is hell. I think this game is trying to show you that, how bad things can get but even through all that there is hope and if your fellow soldiers stand with you then you can move mountains! Well not literally, I mean it would be impressive if you could but I wouldn't expect that to happen.
CoD copying Battlefield?
Yes I know, this is a popular thing to say these days. Two games look similar so one must be copying the other. Eventhough there are games that actually copied another game that doesn't mean that this counts for every game that is similar to another game. It does surprise me how the classes in CoD: WW2 have a strong resemblance to Battlefield. With the frontline fighter, a support type of class, the sniper and a close quarters combat fighter with a shotgun. They all have their own perks but what this exactly means remains to be seen, hopefully CoD takes a different use to the classes and make it less frustrating than Battlefield. I mean sitting in a team where nine out of ten people pick the scout in Battlefield 1 isn't fun and will most definitely guarantee that you lose the match. So hopefully these classes are going to be well balanced in CoD and that they're all fun to play. So yeah there are similarities with Battlefield but I think CoD will always be CoD. So don't worry too much about that. I can say that I'm definitely interested in this game, after skipping Infinite Warfare I'm really looking forward to CoD: WW2. Hopefully the game will be just as much fun as I hope it will be! The game will be released on the 3rd of November 2017 for PC, Playstation 4 and Xbox One.
