Assassin's Creed Origins, back to the beginning?
The Ezio trilogy has probably some of the favourite Assassin's Creed games in it, but I must admit that I really enjoyed playing Assassin's Creed Syndicate. So I was surprised that they went back to the past in this game, but was it a bad move? I don't think so! Assassin's Creed Origins looks pretty good and I must admit that the Egyptian time with the Roman invasion is a very interesting time. So hopefully this will be a fun game to play!
Origins as in how it all begins?
It certainly looks that way, in one of the trailers I've seen someone mentions that these assassins are the first to see the gods. You probably know by now that with gods they mean the ancient race that ruled on Earth. So probably in this game you figure out more about this ancient race and maybe discover some other secret as well. The origins stories are usually interesting stories because you find out more about something, even when you think you know everything already then an origins story can shed some new light on things. That this story takes place in Egypt is a nice bonus as well, it's a very interesting time in history and I definitely like the Romans being there as well. Eventhough the Romans are the villains in the game, you play as an Egyptian assassin, I'm glad to see them and wonder if there might be a sequel to origins that carries on further into Rome with some Roman assassin or something like that.
Super assassin?
If you think that you're just going to use a stick to defend yourself then you're mistaken! You actually get a sword, a klopesh if I'm not mistaken, and a shield for melee combat and a bow for ranged combat. What's interesting about the bow is that you can use this in the air for some sick trick shots or desperate moves. You still have your sneak and hide options, I mean you're still an assassin and that doesn't mean you can be load and agressive all the time, so be prepared for some stealth missions! What's really interesting about the Egyptian assassin is that he uses an eagle for his eagle vision. So no longer do you see enemies light up when you press the eagle vision button but you switch to your pet eagle that flies around in air and you see from his perspective and you also control the eagle. This isn't just cool but also very effective. You could say a pretty primitive drone but a very cool looking one. You can also use horses to move around faster or use boats that help move faster on the water. You can also dive so no water death if you fall off, but you should be careful when you're in the water because there are crocodiles that want to kill you!
Should you be excited about this Assassin's Creed game?
I know that some people are sick and tired of Assassin's Creed games but this game looks really good and if you ever loved the Assassin's Creed games then this might be a good game to get back into it because it looks really good! The controls look pretty smooth and so far I haven't seen anything that made me less excited about the game. It comes out on the 27th of October on Xbox One, Playstation 4 and PC. It's in a busy time with a lot of new games coming out but I would definitely keep an eye on this game, especially if you're a fan of the previous Assassin's Creed games!
