YouTube adventures -60- Using toxic gamers for content
You have probably noticed the amount of toxic gamers in games these days, pretty much any game that has competitive multiplayer has them and the more popular a game is the more toxic gamers you can expect. So these last couple of months I've seen a big rise in videos where people record encounters with toxic players. This raises a question...
Are toxic gamers good content?
I have recorded several videos where you can hear how I get annoyed, but I always try to keep the worst out of the videos. As fun as it might be for some people I doubt that the majority is interested in hearing an idiot shout, curse and smash his controller on his chair. But to my surprise a lot of videos that show you toxic players at their worst do actually pretty good. What's interesting is that the person posting it isn't the toxic player but the person who play a game with a toxic player. I doubt that toxic players would post their own bad behaviour on YouTube but you never know, if people want to see it then you clearly got something good!
But does that make toxic gamers good content? If with good content you mean it gets a lot of views then yeah it's pretty good content. Apparently people want to see this, especially in popular games like Overwatch and Battlefield 1. It seems some people just can't get enough of seeing other people go crazy with anger, usually over nothing serious but enough to make them mad. I have to be honest and admit that it can be funny to see some people lose their shit over nothing, especially when it's their own fault. But at the same time it's also sad that this is more frequent behaviour these last five years, it's not that it didn't happen before but now it seems almost always the standard behaviour when things go wrong in a match or when you lose.
I've recorded some videos with weird people in it, but I try not to make a habit out of it to look for this type of content. As interesting as it might be for some people to see others get mad it's of course not fun to be in a match with someone who constantly blames others for everything that goes wrong and who attacks you for no other reason but being in the same team as him or her. I understand that some people get frustrated quickly but to openly attack other people during the match is just a sign of bad manners and it's not someone with whom you want to play a game again.
