Movie Monday: The Fate of the Furious
Who would've thought that there would be seven other movies after the first movie? I didn't, I also didn't think I would watch them all but I actually did watch them. Did the movies get better? Well there were ups and downs with the movies but it's always a spectacular action movie with some humour in it. The Fate of the Furious isn't different, it's still an action movie with humour in it but you do miss one of the actors and I think we all know who that is. Does that make the Fate of the Furious a bad movie? Nope, not at all!
No time to stop?
The Fate of the Furious tells the story like a race, it's gotta be fast but before you know it you're watching a two hour movie. This doesn't bother me though because it's not like the movie gets boring or that there's nothing happening. Already from the start there's a race and it's a bit ridiculous but it looks really good! But it's not just a race with cars, it's also a race on foot if you look at the part in prison. But don't worry the movie will have a lot of cars and some looks really flashy but in a Fast and Furious movie you kind of expect that. Things get really crazy and over the top towards the end but considering I've watched the previous seven movies it doesn't really surprise me that much and the trailer unfortunately also gave away a lot of details.
Dom the traitor.
One thing that becomes clear really fast is that Dom will betray the team for this mysterious woman that shows him something and then suddenly he does everything what she wants. No no no it's nothing dirty! This betrayal shocks the team but not everyone is convinced that everything is as it seems. So you can guess that this causes some tension and complications. It's interesting to see Dom face his 'old' team and it leads to some action packed moments. What's really interesting is that Deckard Shaw, the antagonist of the seventh movie, is now also on the team and this leads to some funny and interesting moments. I won't spoil anything but there is this scene where Jason Statham, who plays the role of Deckard Shaw, steals the show in the movie. You'll know what I mean if you've seen the movie!
Is it worth checking out this movie?
I think it is, especially considering that this movie in number eight in the Fast and Furious series. But this movie doesn't lose any power or other surprises. Be prepared to see people you might not have expected to show up and things to happen that you might not expect to happen. Which is a good thing because who likes a movie that can't surprise you at all? I don't think this movie is the best on in the Fast and Furious series but it's one of the best in my opinion. So is it worth checking out? It is, especially if you like the previous movies!
