Movie Monday: The Lego Batman movie

Are you ever too old for Lego movies, well maybe for some Lego movies but not for the Lego Batman movie! This is the type of movie that isn't just fun to watch, it's hilarious! A movie that doesn't take itself too serious and isn't afraid to do some crazy things, but at the same time keep the story and characters interesting. Not bad for a Lego movie, I'd say some movies could learn a thing or two from this movie!

Best Batman is Lego Batman?

 There have been a lot of actors that played the role of Batman and most of them weren't even bad, yes  that even includes the weird movies Batman Forever and Batman & Robin, but you have to admit that Will Arnett is an amazing Batman. Ok he just does the voice but he does it well! Eventhough his Batman is a bit of a dick he does have his charm and in this movie Batman discovers that things can be better and that he can be a better person. Of course that doesn't mean he learns this right away, no that goes through a lot of mistakes and hilarious situations where things don't really go his way.

What can you expect in this movie?

 A lot of action, some cool songs and a lot of humour! Most of the Batman villains, and also some villains from other movies, show up in the movie but the main villain is of course the Joker. Zach Galifianakis does his voice and also does a good job. His Joker is bad, that's nothing new, but also give him a bit of a soul. This Joker wants Batman to recognize him as his biggest enemy and that they have a relationship, the I hate you type of relationship but I guess it counts in a way. The stupidity of the characters in this movie knows no bounds though, even some people find out that Batman's cave is under Wayne manor they still don't figure out who Batman is under the mask. Talking about stupidity, Dick Grayson aka Robin also shows up in this movie and this is a lot more nerdy and pathetic type of Robin. You'd think that would be annoying, which actually is annoying for Batman, but he fits perfectly in the movie. Then there is Barbara Gordon who appears to be the love interest for Batman, eventhough this is a bit weird for everyone that watched Batman the animated series it doesn't really mess with the fun in the movie. It's actually funny to see Batman being a moron around here and acting like a douchebag, surprisingly he gets away with that as well. At least most of the time...

Should you see this movie?

 Yeah definitely! Even if you're not a big Batman and/or Lego fan, the movie is hilarious and has a lot of good and memorable moments. Even if you wouldn't want to buy the movie I can definitely recommend you to rent it because the movie is worth it! You might think  that this movie is more for kids but you couldn't be more wrong, I think the movie is just as good if not better for adults. I really enjoyed watching this movie and I hope there's going to be another Lego Batman movie!

Button bashing

It seems that more and more games want you to smash on the buttons of the controller, which seems like fun but knowing that this weak piece of plastic can´t handle much it´s not the smartest way to handle your controller. In the good old arcade days I could smash on buttons, ok nothing too crazy but at least those machines had a lot more resilience than these weak controllers we have now. You have to pay a small fortune for one of them and they fall apart with the slightest bit of force you use. After smashing a couple of controllers out of frustration I learned to be careful with them, but when games force you to be an agressive button basher it doesn´t really help. Button bashing is nothing new but I do seem to see it in more and more games, even games that could easily do without this abusive way of treating your controller. Sinful Sunday: Why are you so serious?

When I play a game I don't want to be serious, I just want to have fun and relax. Honestly real life is serious enough and I don't need that in games. Who cares who wins or who loses, just have fun and that already makes it great! Unfortunately there are gamers that take certain games way too serious, so serious that they literally forget to have fun which is quite frustrating to deal with. These kind of players are so serious that they probably left the fun behind when they started the game. Sigh... Serious gamers are lame gamers? There is nothing wrong about being serious, but I think there is a time and a place for everything. Mortal Kombat X isn´t just another fighting game?

You´ve probably seen the announce trailer of Mortal Kombat X, then you probably also know that it shows two familiar characters fighting against eachother. At that point you´re probably still thinking that it´s just more of the same but with a better coat of paint, I understand that pessimist look and it´s not often wrong. But from what I´ve heard about Mortal Kombat X is that it´s going to be more than just a new game in the Mortal Kombat game series. What´s new? Apparently there will be more fighting styles for one character, giving everyone his or her own favourite style to use against opponents. There was something familiar in another Mortal Kombat game where they also had weapons in a fighting style, but this seems to go a bit deeper and more unique. Of course these are just words at this point, nothing has been proven just yet!
