Is Destiny 2 really an improvement?

I played Destiny from day one, I really enjoyed playing the game and I played it a lot! But then the raids, house of wolves arena and other things happened that kept me from getting the best stuff and reaching the highest and most powerful level. Not that this is super important but it's of course stupid if you can't play the entire game because there is no matchmaking system for these modes. It made me stop playing Destiny and I must admit that I wasn't really that excited about Destiny 2 when it got announced. But what if they have improved things, does that make you want to buy Destiny 2? Maybe...

Raids for everyone?

So one of my biggest issues with Destiny was not being able to play a raid, you would have to form a team on a website instead of just having the game form teams for you. I tried that but usually you come up short and people end up getting tired of waiting. But now you have a matchmaking system in Destiny 2 for raids. Even when four people from a clan join matchmaking the game will try to find like minded people of the same skill level to team up with them. Hopefully this means that everyone can play raids this time and it will hopefully also mean that people won't have to look for teams online anymore because the game does that for you. You can also form your own clan in the game, so that should make it even better to find people to play games with. So if you don't mind being a part of a clan and you got some friendly people in that clan then you should be finding a team a lot easier. At least I certainly hope so!

New powers?

The titans, hunters and warlocks have gotten some new abilities and some of them look really good! The warlock gets dawnblade, a fiery sword that lets you hack and slash your way to victory! Hunters get arcstrider, this gives you a lightning spear which looks really cool and gives you some really fast moves! The titans get sentinel, this gives you a void shield that you wield pretty much like Captain Amercia wields his shield and it looks pretty cool. How good these new powers are going to be remains to be seen, I know that some powers can look very flashy and cool but it doesn't always turn out to be that impressive! So far I have to admit that I like the look of these new powers, but at the same time I kind of wished they introduced a whole new damage type and maybe even a new class. Well maybe that happens in Destiny 3.

New locations?

Yep, you go further into the solar system with these three new locations: Io, Titan and Nessus. Io is a moon of Jupiter and is sacred to warlocks, Titan is a moon of Saturn and as the name already gives away a place where titans like to hang around and Nessus is a Vex controlled world where you can do your hunter business with your favourite hunter Cayde-6. The new locations look pretty good but once again I'm not blown away with this because if these three new world is all you get then the game feels pretty empty to me. I would like to go to Mercury, maybe go further into space and discover other worlds. Don't get me wrong I like that there are new worlds in the game but I wonder how big these places are and how quickly you're done with them. I haven't forgotten how fast I was done with every planet in Destiny and that really sucked! Another new addition to Destiny 2 are treasure maps that can lead to good loot and that does give you something else to do than missions.

Is Destiny 2 worth checking out?

I must admit that it looks good, but I know that Destiny also looked good and turned out to be a bit less impressive to say the least. I'm just careful and I don't want to jump on the hype train too early. Let's first see how good this game really is and then you can always pre-order it. I want to believe that Destiny 2 will be an improvement but it wouldn't be the first time that a sequel came with empty promises, so you can imagine that I'm not super excited just yet. Hopefully Destiny 2 will be a fun game to play and give us all that we want from it, especially the things we didn't get with Destiny. I'm also cautious about the dlc, because of course there will be dlc and once again it feels like developers will try to screw you over by making you pay extra for something that could've and should've been in the game! Destiny 2 looks good, but so far I'm not yet convinced to buy the game!
