Mass Effect Andromeda, just one more week...or less

Yes yes I know, North American gamers get the game two days early, but here in Europe we have to wait a couple of days longer. It's fine because we're one more week away from Mass Effect Andromeda! Are you excited about the game? Well I know that I am excited!

Is this a good game to start with?

 Even if you never played the previous Mass Effect games then Mass Effect Andromeda is a good game to start with. Sure you missed out on some of the story but the story in Mass Effect Andromeda is following a different path and so it's not required to play the previous Mass Effect games. But to understand the universe a bit better in Mass Effect it does help if you have played those games. That doesn't take away the fact that Mass Effect Andromeda is a game that starts a new adventure with new heroes and villains, so hopefully this means we can all enjoy it. Both the 'old' and new fans.

Why are you so excited about this game?

 Because I love Bioware games that give you character customization, an interesting story, a big open world where you can go to different places and meet different people. In Mass Effect you really travel far and discover new planets, species and dangers! This is probably everything the explorer in most of us could ask for. Sure it's just a game but it gives you so much to do, so much to see and so much to experience. Then there is room for bonding time with your crew, something I really like in Mass Effect games and also Dragon Age games, and doing some silly things. I get a feeling that Mass Effect Andromeda isn't going to disappoint, it will give the fans something amazing and even new players might be tempted to try this game out. Of course there are haters and as you know haters gonna hate. Don't let that stop you from being excited or interested in this game, make your own decisions and check the game out if you want to!

Both single player and multiplayer fun?

 I'll be honest and say that I'm not super excited about multiplayer in Mass Effect Andromeda. This is more for people who want to play these type of games with their friends. I personally prefer to play these type of games on my own, so I'll be spending more time on the single player experience. I wasn't a big fan of Mass Effect 3 multiplayer and also not a big fan of Dragon Age Inquisition multiplayer, but apparently there are people that do like it and that's good news for them that there is multiplayer in Mass Effect Andromeda. I personally don't care much about it but I will definitely check it out, if only to see if I like it or not.

Mass Effect Andromeda is available for North American gamers on the 21st of March and in Europe on the 23rd of March, so close and yet it's still so far away...

Button bashing

It seems that more and more games want you to smash on the buttons of the controller, which seems like fun but knowing that this weak piece of plastic can´t handle much it´s not the smartest way to handle your controller. In the good old arcade days I could smash on buttons, ok nothing too crazy but at least those machines had a lot more resilience than these weak controllers we have now. You have to pay a small fortune for one of them and they fall apart with the slightest bit of force you use. After smashing a couple of controllers out of frustration I learned to be careful with them, but when games force you to be an agressive button basher it doesn´t really help. Button bashing is nothing new but I do seem to see it in more and more games, even games that could easily do without this abusive way of treating your controller. Sinful Sunday: Why are you so serious?

When I play a game I don't want to be serious, I just want to have fun and relax. Honestly real life is serious enough and I don't need that in games. Who cares who wins or who loses, just have fun and that already makes it great! Unfortunately there are gamers that take certain games way too serious, so serious that they literally forget to have fun which is quite frustrating to deal with. These kind of players are so serious that they probably left the fun behind when they started the game. Sigh... Serious gamers are lame gamers? There is nothing wrong about being serious, but I think there is a time and a place for everything. When I play a game with my friends then I'm not being serious nor am I serious when I start up some random multiplayer match. Sure it's nice to win but it's not everything! Mortal Kombat X isn´t just another fighting game?

You´ve probably seen the announce trailer of Mortal Kombat X, then you probably also know that it shows two familiar characters fighting against eachother. At that point you´re probably still thinking that it´s just more of the same but with a better coat of paint, I understand that pessimist look and it´s not often wrong. But from what I´ve heard about Mortal Kombat X is that it´s going to be more than just a new game in the Mortal Kombat game series. What´s new? Apparently there will be more fighting styles for one character, giving everyone his or her own favourite style to use against opponents. There was something familiar in another Mortal Kombat game where they also had weapons in a fighting style, but this seems to go a bit deeper and more unique. Of course these are just words at this point, nothing has been proven just yet!
