Mass Effect Andromeda, good or bad?

I can't help but get the idea that a lot of people want to jump on the hate train when it comes to Mass Effect Andromeda, people that just hate for no other reason than hating or following other people in their feeble attempts to come up with an excuse to hate this game. That doesn't mean that Mass Effect Andromeda is flawless, oh no but it's not that bad. I would even say that the game is quite enjoyable, but probably more for fans than for new players.

What do you do in Mass Effect Andromeda?

You play as Scott or Sara Ryder, depending if you make a male or female character, and after the prologue you become the Pathfinder for the humans. You see several races have decided to travel to the Andromeda system to start over, to get away from the dangers of the Milky Way and hopefully start a peaceful life in Andromeda. Unfortunately things aren't that peaceful when you arrive and troubles are quick to pop up after you wake up from your cryo sleep. Everything has gone to shit and the other arks, the big spaceships that carry different races to Andromeda, have gone missing. It's up to you as the only Pathfinder in Andromeda to fix the problems and find places for people to settle. That means exploring planets, finding places for a settlement, defending people against the Kett (the alien race that is very hostile), make new friends (the Angara are a new race you meet) and decide who comes out of cryo first. All your choices and actions will have consequences so you better be ready for that! It can be quite overwhelming at first but once you find your way in the game it's actually quite fun to play.

Mass Effect Andromeda is a lot like Dragon Age Inquisition?

I've heard people about that and I understand why, they're not even wrong about that. But there are of course differences. No not just because Dragon Age takes place in a completely different universe but more because Mass Effect Andromeda is faster. Your jump jet gives you a good jump and also a nice boost to dash forward. This makes the combat faster and also helps you with reaching nasty points when platforming. The combat system is also way more advanced, because instead of being stuck in one class you can play as every class. Once you get the connection with SAM, the AI in your head, you can load different profiles, the classes but you first have to unlock them by spending enough skill points in these classes, during the fight. That means you can go soldier and when someone is vulnerable against tech attacks you switch to engineer, if you prefer to attack with biotic attacks you can switch to the adept profile and cause some havoc with that. The options seem to be limitless and it's a lot of fun. This makes the fights faster but also more detailed and fun. If you've never played as a biotic then this is your chance to discover these powers, the same counts for other profiles. Exploration plays a big part in this game so don't be surprised if you spend a lot of time discovering new places or going off track to do some side missions or trying to find secrets.

Why do a lot of people hate Mass Effect?

A lot of these haters haven't even played the game and the others are whining a lot about some details. Yes the face animations are a bit weird, but does that break the game or ruin the experience? I don't think so! Yes I wish that was better but considering you have such a huge game to explore then it's just silly to be annoyed by something like that and consider that as the thing that makes you not want to play the game. The game will also stotter a bit, sometimes even get stuck for a few seconds. I've seen this happening several times when I run through the hallways in the Nexus, the big spacestation (a lot like the Citadel), and this is just a moment that the game needs to adjust. It's a shame that this is in the game but if that's all that's causing problems then I'm not complaining! Sometimes during conversations characters will be off screen or just continue walking away, this is awkward but once again not something that breaks the game. Yes Mass Effect Andromeda has some issues, the game isn't perfect, but I don't consider these issues as huge problems. You can definitely enjoy playing the game and have a good time in both single player and multiplayer. I mostly play the game for single player and I have had a great time so far, ok the game is not as amazing as I would like it to be but does that automaticly make it bad? No! If you're really uncertain about the game then you can always wait, but if you're a Mass Effect fan and you really want to play this game then play it. Don't let the haters keep you from enjoying a fun game!
