P.A.M.E.L.A. is a new type of horror game?
Ever since the Rebirth trailer I've been keeping an eye on this game, a survival horror game that takes place in a fallen Utopia. Everything looks so beautiful and yet there are corpses everywhere and you know something terrible has happened, unfortunately you don't know what and how to exactly fix things if you can even fix it. Because at this point I don't know if this will be a game where you just try to survive or where you actually try to fix things. Either way the game looks amazing and after seeing the gameplay trailer I'm certain that this game will be quite interesting to play!
Is this really a survival horror game?
I can understand your doubts if you give this game a quick glance, futuristic setting and bright light embracing you with warmth, how can this be survival horror? But then you see people, or at least they used to be people, coming after you and trying to kill you. These former residents of Eden, the name of the fallen Utopia, have turned into something hostile and some look like they just got exposed to some horrible diseases or got killed and somehow came back to life. When you have these guys running after you then you don't care about the futuristic setting and the bright light, you just want to get the hell out of there!
Can you fight or do you have to run?
Eventhough there's nothing wrong with a running strategy it's good to know that you can fight and that makes this game already interesting to me, because if all you can do is run then that would be a bit frustrating in my opinion. In the gameplay trailer I saw that you could pick up a type of energy shield and an energy melee weapon, the shield was broken in a melee attack from an enemy but maybe that's just temporarily. You have to scavenge the world for parts and you also need to find safe places to sleep and of course eat, that makes surviving an attack from enemy suddenly less interesting when you're hungry and looking for food. But that doesn't mean that combat is lame or will not play a role in the game, just remember that's not everything. At least you can defend yourself and depending on the amount or type of enemies you should be ok. Otherwise you could always run...
What makes this game so interesting?
It's easy to say that it's interesting because it's new but I think there's more to that, because if you've seen a science fiction movie about a fallen Utopia then you probably know that this is usually something bad. People had everything and then they lost it all, what does that do to people and could you actually survive that? If you put the beautiful surroundings of the game in that mix plus an interesting crafting system then you got something worth checking out, to say the least! Right now we don't know that much about the game and already it peaks the curiosity of people and I can only hope that this game will be as much fun as it looks! It will launch in 2016 so you might want to keep your eyes and ears open for more information! The game is being developed for Windows PC, but maybe in the near future there might be a version for the consoles as well. Perhaps that's just wishful thinking on my part.
