Getting someone recommended to you on Xboxlive
On Xboxlive you now get players recommended to you, usually these are people with popular uploads, and to my surprise I get several female gamers recommended to me. I can't say that I really want to expand my friendslist but I decided to check out what kind of people Xboxlive is recommending to me. What's weird is that most of these people aren't living anywhere near me, so that's already weird to recommend someone that lives in a completely different time zone which makes playing together difficult and then there's the age difference. You see I got a recommendation to play with a girl who's 19, well I don't know about you but I'd rather play with people around my own age. Not that there's anything wrong with playing with people that are older or younger than you, but I think you usually fit better with people around your own age.
Xboxlive recommendations are crap?
I think it's safe to say that, because most of the people that were recommended to me already have more than a hundred friends. Why even bother with these type of recommendations? Do you really think they want to add a random guy or girl in their long list of friends? I know that some people do that but isn't it better to try and find people that are a better match for you. For example people from your own country or at least your own time zone, people that play the same games as you and people that have about the same amount of friends as you. So don't pair a guy with ten friends with someone that has a hundred friends, that makes no sense to me! Sure you can be friends with someone on the other side of the ocean, but playing games together will be more difficult and let's not forget how bad the connection for one of the two will be because if the European player hosts then it might be bad for the Amercian player and vice versa. I don't mind getting players recommended to me but at least try to put some effort in it Microsoft!
The recommendations aren't a bad idea?
They're not, because a lot of people are looking for other people to play with. On a forum or gaming related website I often hear people talk about trying to find other people to play with, because for a lot of people this is still an issue. Which is actually weird in this online world we're living. But finding a nice person to play games with can be a challenge, so it would be nice if you could get some help with that. So if the Xboxlive recommendations would work proper then that would be an interesting way to get to know some new people and who knows maybe some of they could be fun for you to play games with. Just make certain that you give some more attention to less popular players, people that don't have hundreds of friends or get hundreds of likes on their uploads. I think these people already have enough friends and they're probably not looking to expand their list of friends with random people. How about giving some more love to players that are actually looking for friends or at least people to play with? Make that an option on Xboxlive where you can sign up for being matched and recommended to other people, hopefully that will help you meet some interesting and fun people to play games with!
