Infinite spawning enemies in a game

This is probably one of the most annoying and laziest thing a developer can put in a game. What's even worst is that these type of enemies have been showing up in games for a long time and I don't think we've seen the end of that. But it does make me wonder, are there actually people who like these type of enemies? Because somehow they keep showing up in games so someone must like that or are some developers just assholes?


Why do you hate infinite spawning enemies?


If you have to ask this then you clearly haven't been in a situation that went from bad to worse just because the enemies keep spawning and you're running out of ammo and/or health. It makes something that isn't that difficult more difficult and turns something that could be fun into something that isn't fun. Sometimes it's quite simple, you need to get an objective, protect an objective or beat a boss. This wouldn't be so difficult if it wasn't for the infinite spawning enemies, no matter how many you kill they just keep coming. You could try to ignore them and focus on the objective or the boss but the problem is that they're not going to ignore you! Which means you either kill them or they kill you! Infinite spawning enemies are some typical frustrating enemies that are a horrible addition to any game, maybe in some situations it can be interesting (for example a challenge or survival mode) but in the standard game mode you don't want to see anything like that.


So why do developers keep putting them in games?


I guess some developers think it's a nice challenge, try to complete an objective or beat a boss while enemies keep spawning no matter how many you kill. I don't know about you but I don't like that, it makes games more annoying and I think that's the opposite a developer would want. It's also easy to just put the infinite spawning enemies in a game instead of something more realistic, for example if you don't kill enemies quick enough other enemies are alerted to your presence or the enemy with a radio can call for back up. I've seen this also in games and that works better, this gives people a chance to stop the infinite flow of enemies and actually makes it more interesting to play. You'll have to plan your attack and not just sit in one spot and mow enemies down until the timer runs out or you completed the objective. I really wish developers would stop with the infinite spawning enemies, they're annoying and I doubt that there are a lot of people that actually enjoy seeing these type of enemies in a game. There's nothing wrong with making a game a bit more challenging, but that doesn't mean you should also make it more annoying! Keep the fun in a game and the infinite spawning enemies out!
