Sinful Sunday: Lazy gamer?

If there's one thing I hate it's not finishing a game, it really bothers me if there is a game I bought and I never finished it. Sometimes it's almost like the game is staring and laughing at me for not finishing it, ok that's crazy talk but seriously it just feels wrong not to finish a game in my eyes. Unless I truly hate the game and have no desire to waste more time on that, otherwise I'll just quickly finish a game and then get rid of it if I didn't like it that much. Do you ever have that feeling like you have to finish a game? Perhaps you don't care if you finish a game or not, but it might also be that you want to complete (as in get all achievements/trophies in a game) every game you play. That's even more extreme and I'm glad I don't have that need, because beating some games can be frustrating enough!

Are you lazy for not beating a game?

I don't think so, because sometimes you're just busy and don't have the time to finish a game. When another cool games comes out then you don't always feel like first finishing the game you were playing, meaning you leave that one unfinished (for the moment) and then start playing a new game. The danger of that is that you can stack up a big pile of games you haven't finished if you're not careful, which makes it feel more like work than a hobby when you try to finish all those games. Which is exactly the reason why I try to finish games before the next game comes out that I want to play. Unfortunately sometimes multiple interesting games come out on the same day or the launch dates are pretty close to eachother, which means rushing through games (something I don't like to do) or having to put one of the two games on hold. I don't switch between two games, for example play an hour this game and then an hour another game. I find that uncomfortable and also a bit confusing because the controls aren't always the same in each game so I prefer to first focus on one game and then the next game.

Why do you have this need to finish games?

Why do some people like to swim or others like to walk around nude in their house? It doesn't always make sense, but I prefer to finish games I play. Especially when I like a game, but even games I don't like I try to finish. Just to see the end and then I can leave that game behind me and move on to the next. It's also important to me to finish games in the right order, for example I wouldn't play Mass Effect 2 before the first Mass Effect game. That makes sense and yet I've heard from several people that they first started playing Mass Effect 2 and then played the first Mass Effect game. The only reason when I don't finish a game is when I hate it, as in I have no fun at all playing it and I just don't care where the story is going. Then there are also some games I hate a lot of issues with beating, for example I beat the first Ninja Gaiden game but then with the second Ninja Gaiden game I just quit. I didn't want to go through all that frustration again just to beat a game, besides my neighbours would probably prefer if I stop playing frustrating games as well because shouting in the middle of the night because a boss screws you over again doesn't really help you make any friends around you.
