Looking back at.....BloodRayne!
When I first saw this game I couldn't help but think that the developers were trying to make a quick buck with a sexy vampire slasher game. Well it seems that I was wrong, because BloodRayne is actually a lot of fun! Just see yourself as the person that kills one Nazi at a time with two deadly blades attached to your arms. I mean how can that not be fun? Sure the graphics aren't the best and the story isn't amazing, but for just pure fun you've come to the right game!
Not a vampire?
So let me first say that Rayne isn't even a vampire, she's a dhampir (I think that's something like a half vampire as in one of the parents was a vampire, of course I could be wrong because I don't really know much about the whole vampire mythology) and is trained to kill supernatural enemies. Well a Nazi isn't supernatural but something weird is going on in Germany, you see some weird creatures take over the body of a human and they seem to be running the shots at some point. I won't spoil more because it's something you'll have to see for yourself, you'd probably not believe me even if I told you.
Hack and slash!
You'd think it gets boring to hack and slash through a level, but in the case of BloodRayne it doesn't! Cutting off the heads of your enemies and seeing them roll over the ground is fun, especially when it's a Nazi head because somehow it always feels good killing those guys. It seems unfair against enemies with guns but just rush in and do your thing and before you know it they're all missing the upper part of their body! The levels are also dark and creepy, which fits nicely with the theme and the story. Which is disturbing to say the least!
Worth checking out.
Maybe you've seen the BloodRayne movie(s) and don't know what to expect from the game, well let me say that the game is a lot more fun than the movies. Maybe it feels like it becomes a bit repetitive at times but I seriously mean it when I say that I didn't get that feeling in this game so much, mostly thanks to the quick killing with your blades and of course killing Nazi scum! It's not as much fun as shooting Nazi zombies in CoD Blacks Ops but this is still a lot of fun. It's a great game to blow off some steam and just go crazy with the killing, especially when you don't feel like solving puzzles or working with other people in a team. Just some solo action and fun, it's a good way to spend the evening after a long day of school and/or work!
