Why would you play fair?
Whenever I play PvP in games like Gears of War or Destiny I'm quickly reminded why I don't like PvP in these games. It's not because I suck at PvP, but it's the part where every loser that is just as bad as me or even worse runs around with a shotgun for the one shot kill. This is so cheap and somehow this can't be fixed, what's even worse is that it can be quite effective as well. So this means more and more people use this cheap trick and after some time it's just shotgun vs shotgun in PvP. Why even put other weapons in PvP? Apparently a shotgun is all everyone uses, oh and heavy weapons of course. I mean you can't expect people to pass on another way to get a one shot kill.
Why do people use cheap tricks to win?
The answer is in the question, it's because they want to win and that makes sense in a way. But how people feel good about that victory is a mystery to me. Because if I won a match because I kept using a cheap tactic like the shotgun only or camping then I'd feel disgusted with myself, but I guess that's the difference between someone who plays fair and someone who is a piece of shit. Ok maybe that's a bit harsh but the shotguns in Gears of War and Destiny ruin the PvP experience, I mean who in their right mind wants to play that when every douchebag runs around with a shotgun? Of course there's nothing wrong with using a shotgun, but only using the shotgun for an easy kill is just cheap and people like that are just sad. I don't know what else to call them.
Does it really matter?
I guess a win is a win and apparently it doesn't matter how you win in some games, perhaps some developers even encourage the use of the one shot kill weapons. What's fun in Destiny that there is a mayhem mode, that's where abilities, special and heavy ammo is available much faster. So that's just chaos, which is fun and then it's kind of what you expect where people run around with their shotgun or other one shot kill weapon. There's nothing wrong with that, hell I'd even appreciate it that there is a mode like that. But what about people who do have some skill or want to play more with primary weapons? Do we have to go to Battlefield and/or CoD? I'm not saying there aren't people in those games that use cheap tricks but at least running around with a shotgun usually doesn't get you a lot of kill against skilled players.
Things will never change?
As long as two people play competitive multiplayer then one of the two will always have something to whine about, that's just how it is. Because every game has a winner and a loser, it's rough but that's how it is. Nobody wants to be a loser so people will do whatever it takes to win, so cheap tricks aren't forbidden but they're frowned upon by other players and I doubt you'll make a lot of friends this way or get the respect some people expect to get when they win. I guess that's how it goes with games, you win or you lose but there's always something to complain about...
