Final Fantasy XV, better than the other FF games?

The last good Final Fantasy game is Final Fantasy X, at least that's how I see it. I don't enjoy the mmorpg FF games (which means FF XI and XIV) and Final Fantasy XII and XIII were by far not as much fun as Final Fantasy X and the FF games before that. With Final Fantasy XII being the FF game with no fun or humour in it at all. So what does that mean for Final Fantasy XV? Will this be the game that calls back the FF veterans or is this going to be just another FF game that will be another nail in the coffin of Final Fantasy?


Final Fantasy XV is ambitious?


Thanks to the next gen (which is now already called current gen) technology things have improved and the graphics look once more fantastic, something you'd expect in a Final Fantasy game. But pretty graphics alone won't lure me back into another Final Fantasy game! You need a good story, interesting characters, enjoyable dialogue and communication between the characters, a good battle system and of course fun in a Final Fantasy game to make it good. Final Fantasy XV gives you a huge open world for you to explore and you can explore that, which is actually something that interests me. But the story and the characters? That's still pretty vague to me...


What do the trailers say about this game?


Every time I see another Final Fantasy XV trailer I see more pretty graphics, people looking sad and that's about it. Apparently something bad will happen or has happened and that affects the main character, but what it all means is unclear and I really hope they don't try to make a super serious story will a lot of drama in it. Final Fantasy XII was a good example of a bad FF game with no humour and everything is so damn serious! But it's too early to judge Final Fantasy XV, eventhough I did see the gameplay trailer but it's just a glimpse of the entire game and you can imagine that people are very curious about this game and want to know more than people looking sad in the trailers!


Is Final Fantasy XV better than the previous FF games?


That's too early to say, but things are looking good (not just the graphics but also the battle system and open world) and I think that this might be one of the better FF games. At least I hope so... There is nothing wrong with putting some drama in a FF game, FF VII and VIII worked pretty well with that and also in FF X had its moments of drama. But what made those games great is that next to the drama there's also humour, sometimes even silly things that make you feel better and want you to play more. So I really hope, I'd say I'd almost pray, that Final Fantasy XV will be an amazing game. If it will be better than the old FF games remains to be seen, I doubt it but I'm willing to accept it if it's true! Let's just quickly flush away the bad taste of some of the previous FF games and get started with Final Fantasy XV!

Button bashing

It seems that more and more games want you to smash on the buttons of the controller, which seems like fun but knowing that this weak piece of plastic can´t handle much it´s not the smartest way to handle your controller. In the good old arcade days I could smash on buttons, ok nothing too crazy but at least those machines had a lot more resilience than these weak controllers we have now. You have to pay a small fortune for one of them and they fall apart with the slightest bit of force you use. After smashing a couple of controllers out of frustration I learned to be careful with them, but when games force you to be an agressive button basher it doesn´t really help. Button bashing is nothing new but I do seem to see it in more and more games, even games that could easily do without this abusive way of treating your controller. Sinful Sunday: Why are you so serious?

When I play a game I don't want to be serious, I just want to have fun and relax. Honestly real life is serious enough and I don't need that in games. Who cares who wins or who loses, just have fun and that already makes it great! Unfortunately there are gamers that take certain games way too serious, so serious that they literally forget to have fun which is quite frustrating to deal with. These kind of players are so serious that they probably left the fun behind when they started the game. Sigh... Serious gamers are lame gamers? Mortal Kombat X isn´t just another fighting game?

You´ve probably seen the announce trailer of Mortal Kombat X, then you probably also know that it shows two familiar characters fighting against eachother. At that point you´re probably still thinking that it´s just more of the same but with a better coat of paint, I understand that pessimist look and it´s not often wrong. But from what I´ve heard about Mortal Kombat X is that it´s going to be more than just a new game in the Mortal Kombat game series. What´s new? Apparently there will be more fighting styles for one character, giving everyone his or her own favourite style to use against opponents. There was something familiar in another Mortal Kombat game where they also had weapons in a fighting style, but this seems to go a bit deeper and more unique. Of course these are just words at this point, nothing has been proven just yet!
