Disappointment, not getting the game you wanted
I'm not trying to sound like some spoiled douchebag, this isn't about me wanting to all the games. This is about pre-ordering a collector's edition of Metal Gear Solid V several months ago and then a couple of days before the launch date I get a mail that they can't deliver and that my game is being cancelled. I don't think I have to mention how much that sucks and how difficult it was to find a place where they would sell Metal Gear Solid V (a lot of places were already sold out) and not pay a fortune extra. But apparently this happens, you want something and you're ready to pay for something and yet at the last moment that can be taken from you as if it's nothing. That's actually cruel, very cruel...
Why is it so cruel?
Because I've been looking forward to play Metal Gear Solid V for more than two years and the moment I saw the collector's edition I knew that this is what I want. The cool red cyber arm of Big Boss and all the other extra stuff would be a great way to get started with possibly the game of the year. What makes it so cruel is that this can be taken from you just a couples of days before you would've gotten it, not a month or immediately. Then it would've been a disappointment and you just move on but at this point I'm just pissed off!
But you can still play Metal Gears Solid V?
Sure, I should get it today (unless more disappointment arrives on my doorstep) and I'll just start a bit later with the game then the rest of the world but I'll never get that collector's edition I wanted and I thought I was so close to get it. I'll probably sound like a whiner at this point but it's just rough to lose something that you thought you'd get and you really expected to get it. But as a true pessimist you can look at it this way, bad things will always become worse and you should be happy with what you have!
So disappointment is a part of playing games?
Absolutely! I'm pretty certain that at one point in your life you bought a game that sucked and you probably had regrets ever buying that, it's even worse when you had high hopes for that game and then it turned out to be such a disappointment. The same counts for when you really want a game and then it's unavailable, the disappointment becomes even bigger when you were so close to getting it and then at the last moment you don't get it. What I don't understand is why it has to be at the last moment, I mean if the collector's edition is only in short supply then it should be made known to everyone that pre-ordered if they get it or not. It's better to know this sooner than later! This also gives you a better chance to find another game to play or buy another copy of the game somewhere else.
