Looking back at.....Assassin's Creed 3!

For a lot of people Assassin's Creed 3 was the end of the good AC games, because Ezio was gone and now you played as Connor and a lot of fans aren't really a fan of Connor. But what really bothers some people is  that you don't start playing as Connor but as Haytham Kenway (I'll try to keep the spoilers out as much as possible). Some people feel like they've been deceived and others just found another reason to hate a popular game. But is Assassin's Creed 3 really a bad game or is it actually a lot of fun? I will talk about some parts in the story so if you haven't played the game yet then you might be wise not to read further!

Sins of the father.

You start as Haytham Kenway and you travel from good old England to the colonies (later known as the USA), here you start recruiting and form your own group. But what are they doing? Well I won't spoil that for you, in case you are still reading and haven't played the game, but let's just say that they're not who you expected them to be! Then in chapter five you switch to a young Connor and you spend time among the Native Americans, which is actually pretty cool. But as you expect things go wrong and Connor has to run for his life and finds shelter, this old man is actually an assassin and eventually trains Connor. This is the beginning kind of the beginning of the story, eventhough you're already halfway in the game. I can see how this upsets some people but it's worth going through all that, it makes sense when you play it.

A lot to do!

There's a lot to do for the young assassin, exploring and doing missions are just some of the things you can do. You can also do a ton of side missions and activities that will keep you busy. You can also improve your secret hideout by inviting more people to join and actually start a small community there. What's really cool about AC 3 is the exploration of the wild and the danger of wild animals, these will attack you if you get too close and if you're not careful you'll end up as lunch! Even with the new activities it's still a pretty familiar game, so if you're a fan from the start then this game won't be that different. Eventhough Connor isn't really that interesting as Ezio, but that doesn't make him a bad character. It's just a bit awkward sometimes in certain conversations.

Multiplayer.

In AC 3 you also have multiplayer, it gives you a wide selection of characters and weapons to fight with or against. Because this takes place later in history than AC Revelations you'll see more characters with guns but it's usually still the hidden blade that will lead you to victory in multiplayer. The executions are brutal and the maps actually quite diverse. But I must admit that AC 3 multiplayer didn't interest me as much as in AC Revelations, it's not bad but just a bit more of the same. Sure there are new skills and weapons but it still feels pretty much as the same multiplayer as in AC Revelations. So is it worth checking out Assassin's Creed 3? I think it is, even if it's not the best game in the series it's definitely worth checking out!
