What is Scalebound?

Have you heard about the game Scalebound? It's something different then what you would expect, but at the same time it's not that strange. What am I talking about? About you having a dragon companion (or pet if you insist) and you travelling through a fantasy world! That sounds cool, but what does that really mean? Well let's take a closer look!

Your best friend is a dragon?

Looking at the dialogue it remains to be seen if the main character is friends with the dragon but you're connected (most likely because of the dragon arm the main character has) and that gives you the power to command the dragon. Do you remember those moments in Fable 2 and 3 where you could command your dog to do something for you? Well now you can do that with a dragon and cause a lot more destruction! You can also ride on the back of the dragon or fight along side the dragon in a battle.

How does the combat work?

The combat has some rpg elements, for example you see numbers when you attack an enemy, this should help you figure out what an effective attack is and what isn't. Some people might not like the numbers appearing after an attack, but you can get used to that pretty quickly. The combat itself is pretty quick, it has a bit of hack and slash feeling to it and yet you have some abilities to command your dragon and plan your attack. Your character can use a sword for close quarters combat and a bow for ranged combat. Combined with your dragon that can create some diverse and devastating attacks!

Is it worth checking out?

Well it definitely looks interesting! If you like some dubstep then you'll love the soundtrack in Scalebound because the main character is from our world and takes his music with him and you'll hear that a lot in the fantasy world. Another thing you might like is the dragon, you can customize this creature to your own liking and even select what type of elemental dragon he (or maybe she?) is. This is especially helpful when you team up with other players, because you can invite up to three friends in your game world and they can help you beat difficult bosses or just for fun exploring the world. So is it worth checking out once it releases? I think it is!
