Gamers for hire?

This seems silly but some people actually hire someone to help them with a game, wether it's an achievement or trophy they can't get or just a difficult moment in the game they can't get past. So is there a market for gamers that want to offer their skills to others? Well I wouldn't call it a market, but it wouldn't surprise that some people can make some extra money out of this.

Why pay if you can do it yourself?

This is exactly what I would say, because if someone else would get me an achievement then that achievement would just feel wrong to me and it would be a stain on all the others I did get myself. An achievement is your accomplishment, so if someone else gets it for you then it just feels wrong to me. Besides if you have issues with an achievement or trophy then there are a lot of guides online that help you, wether it's a written walkthrough or someone who made a video that actually shows you how you do it. So even with some help you still did it yourself and it didn't cost you anything.

But what if you're a tester?

Now that seems like a dream job for some gamers, to be able to play the newest games as one of the first and then check how good those games are and see if everything is working as it should. Once again you're a gamer getting payed to do what you like, I know that a lot of people would love that and yet there isn't room for all of us to get that job. It does help if you have skill, especially in a certain genre (for example first person shooters) so developers can hire you to check out their game and you can test it to the limit of your abilities.

And a game journalist?

Ah yes, one might hate them and the other might love them. But it's an important job because you inform a lot of people with what you write, so if you call a game shit then a lot of people will be affected by that (depending where you write your articles), so it's not a job you should take lightly. If you're really lucky then developers will send you games and you can play them to write a review, maybe even make a video about it on youtube. Once again this seems like a dream job but it's a lot of work and you have to take it seriously. If you say that a game is bad then you also have to say why it's bad and what could've been done to make it better. It's easy to be a douchebag online but to actually have an objective opinion to inform people that are looking for information, now that's a challenge!
