How exclusive is an exclusive game?

It's lame when you hear that a game that you want to play is going to be an exclusive for another console, even PC gamers can find themselves left out in this deal because sometimes games are exclusive to consoles. I don't think I have to mention how much that sucks and buying a(nother) console isn't always an option. But what if an exclusive game doesn't stay exclusive? Then you still have a chance to play it, unfortunately that usually takes time and I bet you prefer to play games as fast as they're available.

Exclusives don't always stay exclusive?

Nope, I've seen that happen several times in the past and I don't see this change in the future. Sometimes situations can even be turned around and exclusive deals are for the other console instead of for the console it was at first. Just look at CoD with Black Ops 3, Microsoft had for a long time a good deal where they got dlc first (a month before the other platforms) and that made it more popular to buy and play CoD games on the Xbox 360 and later on the Xbox One. But things change and now Sony has that deal and that will probably mean that a lot of people will prefer to buy and play Black Ops 3 on the Playstation 4 so they get acces to the new dlc a month before the others. Ah yes life is strange and unfair sometimes...

So it's a bit of a waiting game?

You could say that, sooner or later you'll probably get acces to an exclusive game and hopefully it was worth the wait. The same counts with certain deals, with CoD you'll have to wait a month longer now for new dlc if you don't have a Playstation 4. But looking at Fable the lost chapters it can be worth the wait, because that game came out on the PC and it added some extra quests. It's not a surprise that exclusive games only stay exclusive for a certain amount of time, so if you have patience then there's a chance that a game will be available for you on your console or PC.

And if a game stays exclusive?

Then it's up to you if you want to buy another console or if needed an upgrade for your PC to be able to play that exclusive game. Personally I would advice you not to do it, at least not for just one or two games. Because no matter how impressive a console is it's the games that make the console what it is, good or bad! Sometimes you just have to take a loss, not being able to play a game is rough but it's not the end of the world. There are a lot of other games out there and not being able to play some of them isn't terrible, a lot of games are available on multiple platforms so I don't think exclusives can ruin that much fun for you.
