Are you still playing Destiny?

You've probably heard people say that or read it in the comments thousands of times and yet people still do it, the whole do people still play that game? Nine out of ten times it's just a hungry troll asking for some attention but sometimes people actually do wonder if people still play Destiny. Why? Because we're almost a year after the launch of Destiny and the new expansion (the Taken King) is coming out next month. So it's no surprise that people would like to know if people still play Destiny, because in a game like Destiny you need other players to advance unless you like not being able to reach the max level and getting the best gear.

Why should people still be playing Destiny?

Because some people like it? Yes that might seems strange but not everyone started playing since the launch of the game and others took a break and came back recently. I also took a two month break and came back today to discover that Gjallarhorn is for sale, which means one of the few missing exotic weapons I want is now within my grasp. It's not easy to keep playing Destiny though, I get tired of it quickly if you do nothing else but the same missions and the same bounties just to level up your gear and hoping for a good loot drop. Unfortunately with Destiny it's 99 out of a 100 times not a good loot drop. But some people play with friends and/or in a clan and that keeps the game alive by playing raids, prison of elders and strikes together.

So you need friends if you want to keep playing Destiny?

The best gear is only available to you if you can form a team of at least three and that's the only way it works. Sure you can try to solo in the prison of elders on lvl 32 arenas but I doubt that will make you happy and it's quite challenging as well! To be honest Bungie never made a secret out of that, to advance further in Destiny you need to play with other people but you can play solo and still have a lot of fun with the game. But that fun runs out quicker and not reaching the max level and the best gear can be quite frustrating. So friends make the game more fun and if you don't know anyone that plays Destiny then your visit in the game can be a short one!

Is it worth checking out Destiny at this point?

Sure, just remember that most people will have a higher level and/or more experience than you in this game. So not everyone will have the patience to play with a new player and don't be surprised  to see people leave a random team when your level isn't high enough in their eyes. But if you know other people that play this game and want to help you or don't mind going solo then Destiny can keep you busy for quite some time. Not just because the loot drop system can work against you, which means you could spend months trying to get something you really want, but also because there is a lot to do and a lot to check out. I mean everything not just the story. Sure haters will hate on this game but it's still pretty popular and once the Taken King expansion comes out you'll see a lot more players and it's good if you got familiar with Destiny before you try that.
